Hi,

What brakes does the 3.0 with the 6 speed manual non-premium come with? I was reading the rear rotors are made of aluminum. Is that true? Are the calipers the same as the premium just not red? I plan to track drive the car and was thinking it might be a good idea to switch to gyro-Discs right away and stell the stock rotors vs destroy them at the first track session.

anyway, I have the car on order but havenā€™t seen it or one like it in person yet. Any one have a similar model and can shed light on this topic? Thanks in advance!

From what I heard, the mt cars get the better stuff. So bigger rear brakes. They all get the same fronts. Stock rotors are just fine for track duty. No need to upgrade those. Just get better pads and fluid.

My personal opinion is Project Mu Club Racer pads and Castrol SRF fluid. Never had brake fade with this setup.

Rotors are never made of aluminum. They are typically made of a cast iron alloy.

True, but I believe that when most people refer to rotor material, they are referring to the rotor disc material. As you know, the vast majority of brake rotor discs are made of cast iron alloy. An XRF alloy analyzer is often used to verify correct alloy material percentages. I used one during a time when I was designing stainless steel brake rotors for police vehicles. Those were coated with chromium in a PVD chamber.

I have a 2023 base manual, the calipers are red and same as the premium models. Iā€™ve had a good experience so far with the Project Mu Club Racer pads and Endless RF650.

Are the rear brake rotors the same size as the premium autos?

I have a 6MT base 2024 and am looking at track pads and was curious what size to order.

I believe the rears are smaller than the premium. I have a base manual. Has front brembos but the rears are slightly smaller.

I am not sure if the caliper is actually different or if the calipers are the same and just the rotor is smaller. i personally would bet itā€™s the same caliper just smaller rotor and that it could be changed out to a premium rear rotor/pad set.

here are the dimensions

Yes, base model rear rotors are allegedly smaller but according to all sources online they should also be unpainted.

Strange because all manual base models Iā€™ve seen have painted calipers, and Iā€™d be surprised if they produced different size painted calipers.

ya I do know that. I was suprised when my MT had red brembos and did some u investigating a while back

From the research Iā€™ve done in the past I am assuming itā€™s the same painted red calipers as a premium but the rear rotor/pad is the same as a base auto unpainted setup

Interesting for sure. I had the 2020 LE I traded in parked next to the 6MT I was taking delivery of parked next to each other and didnā€™t notice a difference in rotor size.

Hopefully those who have already replaced pads on their base 6MTs can confirm.
