I very much believe the higher trims will be special order only aside from some dealers that will order the GRMN to show off and never sell. same old story...
Exactly what I figured. Though, a special ordered version would mean instant profit and no room for markups because someone buying it like that has strong clout.

We're all talking about the lighweight, 340hp model, for about 55k

From what you've seen, as it fair to assume this is the "SZ" (to use A80 nomenclature) and that the "RZ" model is going to blow our socks off?

Is there a trim level in the A90 that will be chasing GT-Rs and supercars, like the RZ A80 did?

Again, thanks for all the insights.

I want to personally thank everyone here for the laughs and discussion. Much of the information I collected here was passed on in different mediums and may have indirectly shaped the new car. This was a fun and entertaining exercise that also afforded me the ability to gauge and understand other enthusiasts when it comes to this particular platform. Unfortunately, it is now time for me to move on to a new project in my current role, of which I am highly excited about and have touched upon here and there previously on here :)

I might not be gone entirely, however I will likely have far less time to dedicate to the ongoing SPX project.

In closing, I think many of you will be very impressed with what is to come and will come to realize that the old adage of underpromise and overdeliver is a very important one.

Thank you.
Hope you aren't leaving because of me????...kidding...kidding. Wish you all the best bud...no hard feelings.

So more or less, is this A90 chasing after just Cayman? Or is it going after the automative industry with respect to the higher/highest trim? Cause if there's a trim that kills the Z06. I'm going to be grinning ear to ear.

Doubt it though

The base A90 is designed as a Cayman killer, but the higher trims have been diversified a bit further :)

In terms of A80, maybe something like SZ, SZ-R, and RZ as far as that goes.

There is a trend there: RC, RC F-Sport, RC-F with Lexus and GR, GR-S, GRMN with some of the current Toyotas.

haha no, nothing of the sort.

I may have had some fun with that argument and gone over the top, but it's definitely not anything personal or severe in any sense. It's good to engage in all forms of debate IMO.

SZ - N/A, 5 speed or auto, small brakes, std suspension, std seats, open diff
SZ-R - N/A, 6-speed, big brakes, bilstein suspension, recaros, LSD
RZ - TT, 6 speed, big brakes, bilstein, recaros, LSD

Edit:

RZ-S was an RZ but brakes, bilstein and seats were optional
GZ was a TT, leather, auto, sometimes aerotop?
(don't know much about the auto/aero options, and that's fine by me)

Need HP and what not. Just to get an idea the power difference. I know there's more to a car than jsut power and torque but like to keep an idea of what's coming later next year.

2JZGE (non turbo) was 168kW. 1/4 mile in mid-low 14s
2JZGTE (turbo) was ~240kW. 1/4 mile in mid-low 13s

That said... My vvti with an exhaust (and therefore a bit of boost creep) made 233rwkW (aussie dynos also read lower than US ones) so I think the 240kW was very conservative.

Ok give me a nice answer so i can be motivated for a year without further news :bump:

Tada said about recalibration on bmw engine, does this mean just an ecu upgrade?Or did they put their hands redesigning the head ?Maybe something close to that like cams etc

that is definitely one I cant answer haha, but Tada definitely was adamant about a great deal of things on that end. He applied a very Toyota approach vs what BMW would be content with. The two cars/variants are very different in a myriad of ways despite sharing components. It's legitimately cringe worthy for the Supra to be compared to the Z4 given the differences.

Were execs happy with the Dyno tests?
The execs don't even know what they want aside from sales targets, but Akio is apparently very pleased with the current plans versus some concerns early on.
