First, I get it. The world has gone crazy, supply chains are out of whack, people aren't working.

All that being said, I'm having a HUGE amount of trouble with vendors meeting timelines. We've been in this crazy situation long enough that vendors should know how long it will take them to handle orders, but Im continually having stuff pushed back. And I'm wondering if its just me.

Example 1:
I ordered the KW DDC suspension through IND Distributions. Ive been using IND forever, their CS has always been great, and they only carry good products so I have confidence that if IND sells it, it should be great. I contacted both them and KW before ordering, and was told it would be 8 weeks to build and ship from Germany. Heres how this has gone ->
5-17-21 - Ordered
6-28-21 - Told the suspension would ship 7/25/21 (10 weeks)
7-27-21 - Told the suspension would ship 9/15/21 (17 weeks)

So Im going to have to wait an additional 9 weeks beyond the 8 weeks I was initially told, and thats only if they don't push it back again.

Example 2:
I ordered the AWE Touring Resonated exhaust direct through AWE, I was given a 40-45 business day lead time (8-9 weeks). Heres how that has gone ->
5-21-21 - Ordered
6-10-21 - Told the exhaust would ship 7/22/21 (9 weeks, so on time so far)
7-27-21 - Told the exhaust would ship 8/6/21 (11 weeks)

Once again, a vendor cannot meet the timeline they provided. Am I the only one having these issues? Do I need to be ordering these parts some other way?

Keep an eye out for vendors that already have the items in stock. There's several vendors I've seen with the awe exhaust in stock and ready to ship. When I ordered my armaspeed intake through extreme powerhouse www.x-ph.com I got an email saying it was back ordered with a potential ship date of mid June and option for a refund if I wanted. Ordered in beginning of may and chose to keep my order. Got an email in mid June saying it shipped, and got it a few days later. I highly recommend xph. I've ordered a lot through them and been very timely.

I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, the KW DDC isnt in stock - anywhere. Even KW said they dont keep any in stock and build them to order, so no matter who I order them through (maybe), I am waiting on KW.

Tell the vendors to "just ship it bro" and watch in amazement as it comes 2 days later. They hate this one simple trick!

This is beyond most companies control. With the Delta variant spreading like wildfire there will be continued delays and you either have to wait or you find an alternative product that is in stock somewhere else.

I have just resigned myself to this fact and if I want something bad enough I will just wait.

The whole automotive industry is F'ed man! I'm at the heart of the industry and everything is delayed. Aftermarket I'm sure is a low priority for many distributors. Everyday I see parking lots filled with unfinished vehicles waiting for chips/flash/etc. All OEM's, tier n suppliers losing money left and right.

DDC afaik has a chip in it as well. That may be the hold up and also there have been huge backlogs, so just get it in line.

We're in unprecedented times and believe me no one is happy about it.. For sure they're getting angry calls, emails, etc. but no one has a solution. Everyone is just... waiting... Companies are looking for alternative chips but like Tesla announced the shift to different chip requires test/validation and new software/new enclosure/etc...

There are also things that you wouldn't imagine happening. Like people not being able to work on their critical machines because a stupid part failed and they're not able to get replacement in time.. Not to mentioned the f'ing loser hackers with ransomeware shit and companies diverting resources to patch security holes causing systems to get updated and downtime, compatibility issues, etc. etc.

Covid has been an awesome excuse for industries to just be completely shitty at everything and respond to customers with "because of covid." This is a great time to start a business. You can delivery literally nothing, respond to emails with apologies, sit on piles of cash, and then blame it all on Covid.

But don't worry. This is all in your best interest. So be sure to thank those in charge everyday.

Seibon took 3 or 4 months to get me my carbon fiber spoiler...and this was pre-coronavirus. Maybe not an apples to apples comparison, but I assume they make their products in house so that was strange. Sounds like for anything quality we have to wait

Unfortunately, estimates are not reliable at this time due to no available space on boats, containers getting stuck waiting for customs and a shortage of trucks.

If you are in a hurry, check with your vendor if the item is in stock before placing an order.

We offer both brands mentioned, I would love to take your business but the truth is the wait will be the same whether you get it direct or from a vendor.
The advantage of getting it from a vendor is the better price

Honestly, its not their fault. With the virus and over seas productions, its out of their hands. I ordered a set of Rays wheels (which are made from Japan) end of October 2020, I just received it mid July 2021........ Usually its a 3-4 month wait, but production times have been extended due to limited personnel inside their factories.

It is what is is..... If you really want it, you will need to wait. I notice with this generation buying the A90 Supras, they want everything now and don't want to wait.. lol I used to be like that back in the days as well.... Nowdays with me being older and other stuff to worry about, I just wait, its not that serious. More important things in life than parts for your Supra......

Yes, steel/metal availability, other parts, labor, logistics, all highly pro-retarded right now. I bought something expensive from HK and Japan and they both took nearly 4 months to get to me. I was just happy they both arrived.. that sense of relief (like finally finding a toilet with a tall stall to take a dump in) alone is so stupid this day and age.. then you realize no toilet paper..

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I understand the world is crazy, I said that. What im frustrated about is being given estimates/expectations that dont end up coming true.

If a company cant give a reliable estimate right now, they shouldnt give one.

I ordered my BC Forged wheels, with a 7 week estimate. Made in Taiwan. I had them in my hands 7 weeks later. So its not everyone.

It's very common in this industry. Virtually all of the vendors you see really don't have any inventory--they're just drop shippers. They operate a website, forward orders to the manufacturer, and take a cut. They don't bother to identify what products are in stock or backordered because they don't know. The only way I know to avoid this is to ask the vendor if a product is in stock before you order. XPH is pretty good about being communicative, but other vendors will just take your order and happily let you twist in the wind waiting for your stuff to come in.

No problem. I understand the frustration. I guess don't let that good experience spoil you. GRI/PSS is like double (some times more) and with xmas season coming up, ocean containers are scarce. Airlines are now running low on jet fuel too for alternate ship mode on heavy bulky items.

Too many people flying all of a sudden too, requiring more fuel.. pretty soon they will start booking roof seats on jetliners like they do in India train system.

Like this..
