To order a new 3.0 Premium the dealer is quoting an additional

$998 for "carbon fiber mirror caps". Is this something that can be negotiated off the invoice? or is it worth getting? Thanks in advance!

FYI, The dealer is also quoting the following two items which I assume can be negotiated off:

$654.00 Vehicle-Protection Ultra Package

$998 lifetime warranty window tint and exterior protection package

p.s. they also want a $1,000 deposit to order, is that the going rate?

Do not pay $1,000 for CF mirror caps.

Vehicle protection and warranty are near pure dealer profit. You shouldn't pay for any of this.

$1000 deposit is fine--just make sure it goes to the purchase price.

I echo this. Except the TRD mirror caps are something like $995, so it’s possible the quote includes those? There may not be much to do about that, but dealer adds are otherwise a no-go from my perspective.

I tried negotiate my way out of having those on my car. They pretty much said they couldn’t since the car was already built and we’re just awaiting delivery. Sucked, but in the end I paid a few grand under msrp so oh well, bit the bullet and got her anyway. Although they look nice I don’t think they’re worth the $900 something price tag.

Thanks for the great replies! This is the response I got from the dealer:

"our dealer adds are non negotiable - we add them to every vehicle. We are still the cheapest in the area since most dealers are adding both market adjustments and dealer adds. "

To be fair, this is the only dealer that is answering my emails. I had to find one 250 miles away since the ones in N. Texas won't bother to respond.

I didn't have to pay for those, def not worth the $1000 the want.

Either get them added at no cost like I was able to, or make them take it off. :p

There’s is an old proverb, similar to when u go food shopping, never go to buy a new/used vehicle hungry, the salesperson will smell u a mile away!
And u will PAY,and PAY,and PAY!?

everything is up for negotiations. It just depends on the dealership but with supply so low, they probably won’t.

This is easy to answer, there are a lot of dealers looking to take advantage of people right now, and they will. You either agree to their markups or don’t agree, that’s it…

Not sure the case with extra cosmetics, like the mirror caps, but the dealer add ons are always negotiable. After they say that I just reply with “If they’re removed I’ll come pick up the car tomorrow morning, just let me know” and so far every car I’ve bought that’s offered the add ons have been removed.

If they’re legit, they won’t let a deal go over simple add ons that cost them next to nothing.

Do you mind sharing the dealer info in case I need it down the road? I am in north Texas and sounds like it's worthwhile to go outside.

If it's on the Monroney Sticker....you have to pay for it
unless the Dealer wants to discount it for you
that is a FIO or PIO ( port installed option)
anything that is not on the Monroney is negotiable

Thanks, they're not budging, but at least this is a nice dealership. In response to
ifew552, it's Toyota of Cedar Park.
