My ECU is post 6/20 and I do not want a CEL. I recently purchased a brand new Akrapovic Catted Downpipe ($1,235) and was wondering if anyone else has this mod currently installed. The site describes this piece as being “potential” cel.

Does anyone have this installed without a tune and have no CEL? If not, I will patiently wait till the ECU is unlocked.

I also have the Akrapovic exhaust/midpipe currently installed.

Thank you in advance for your time and appreciated inputs.

This unit has what's called a "simulator" built in. A tiny chunk of catalytic material designed to trick the O2 sensors.

It may work and avoid a CEL, or it may not. This statement is true of every car, and the Supra is not special here. Cat simulators have been around a long time and they're hit or miss.

Every car forum is filled with "it works trusssst me brooooo" posts and people begging for a working one. Remember that it's a total gamble and you can't be disappointed.

I run Full Akra on the bikes so believe in the quality and desire to have a full Akra system despite the premium price.

If not having a CEL is the highest priority (besides waiting to unlock) the forum has a ton of folks running the AA and AMS catted downpipes without the CEL.

Appreciate the well thought response. Think I’ll install it and give it a chance. If CEL comes on I’ll just uninstall it. Guess it just comes from the luck of the draw.

Yea, I already had the Akra exhaust installed due to getting the two pieces under $4k after CA sales tax. I was considering AA but was quoted $1.4k for the piece. A few days later a member of this forum parted ways with his unused downpipe for $1.3k along w/ a 5% PayPal cash back from Chase Freedom… couldn’t pass on the chance to complete the entire system. I spent slightly under $5k total for all three pieces. Pretty sweet deal I’d say.

What is the diameter of the Akrapovic downpipe? It's not listed on their website, and when I reached out to them, they refused to provide the specs :(

Not to sound glib, but it doesn't matter. Since the exit of this downpipe gets attached to the stock exhaust (3.15"), the maximum exhaust flow of the downpipe is restricted to 3.15". Any larger diameter elsewhere in the downpipe doesn't impact performance.

Maybe, but I'd still like to know... not sure why they won't provide the information.
