I was running Hawk DTC 60 at ACS and braking from about 130-40. At my home track, it's pretty brake intensive. I haven't had fade. This in a car that is about 3250 and 450whp. What kind of courses are you guys on that you are cooking these things? Any video?

Don't get me wrong, they were way better than I was expecting. The whole car was actually! At Sebring going from turn 5, 6, to 7, it's essentially a straightaway until you get to the hairpin at 7. So that's just what you're describing 130-40. No problem. But then you're right back on em again pretty hard for a 90-degree at turn 10. I really noticed it the most when I was passing there offline. It wasn't huge. But not confidence inspiring either. So, I was thinking I'd just buy the CSGs next go round... Then after talking to my new Supra buddy two stalls down, come to find out he orders these paragons and described similar issues offline and able to push them a little bit harder when needed. He has used Hawks in the past as well. It'll be a learning experience for me fo sho. I do know in my wife's 2016 Mustang you definitely could tell the difference between the DTC 60 and 70s.

I'll probably bite the CSG bullet eventually but really want to give these paragon's a try :)

And I have no clue on how the shift lever switches out of manual mode back into drive. I think you mentioned it too somewhere. It's the weirdest thing! And seems random as hell ?. I definitely need more track days with her to get more comfy :drive:

Pads are pads, there isn't any magic to them, so I've just been asking a lot of questions, trying to figure out why everyone says CSG does stuff no other pad can do. It's weird to me. Every other platform seems to agree on using one of a limited number of pads. Then Supra people swear by CSG. I've noticed most platforms have a certain part they all swear up and down on, no matter what. The Supra community seems have quite a few.
Basically, I'm trying to figure out if it's just a trend because people don't really want to venture out on their own to try new things.
As for the lever, if you put in manual and give it a slight bump, you will see it goes back to AT super easy. If you are in manual and pull the parking brake, it will go over on it's own. I think those are the two reasons it goes back to AT during high-g L-hand turns. Right now, I'm getting desperate enough to stick a Command Strip to the shift bezel and use a hair scrunchie to hold it over. I don't know what else to do.

Shhhh man. It's all for the social mediaz.

I too have been using pads half the price with good results. Project Mu Club Racers. Running with the big boys on the local tracks. Almost $1,000 for pads is insanity. I'm about half way through my second set of front pads and still on my first set of rear pads. 19 hours and 786 laps. Never had fade. I keep telling people but for some reason it's just ignored. Oh well. $500 extra in my pocket pays for almost two track days. ;)

I've had a set of CSG pads on the shelf for almost a year now and haven't felt the need for them yet. Perhaps when I add more power.

You ever try Hawk DTC60 front and 30 rear? They only make DTC30 for the rear. And ever try Paragon? When temps come down I’d love to keep the JB4 on all the time.

I am a CSG fan. Have tried stock, hawk, project mu

in fact I just switched back to csg after trying project mu999 this season. Project Mu were really good but not as good as csg

in fact they over heated and started crumbling a bit at my last time trial event
There is a pic in the track section.

my experience and opinion. I run aggressively and 3 times a month

Yea you run a lot more power than me so makes sense.

Just want to be clear here, I am NOT talking smack on CSG pads. I am just stating that not everyone needs to pay that entry free yet.

I can’t wait to consistently pull a little bit more power now that I got a taste of that wonderful Jesse JB4 tune. And know exactly what you’re talking about. I’m not referring to massive fade you’d get from stock pads. But do know what a little bit feels like. I’ve never been on the back straightaway of Sebring before doing 140 and you’re accustomed to doing heavy trail braking. My little MX5 would hit 110 (I think ?) and the top of the line pads were ½ the price. My life was never in jeopardy lol, but you could definitely feel less bite at the limits.

I have not, historically not a hawk fan.
They were good to me back in my S2K days long ago. I can’t wait to try more goodies like you and Rock! And 2.30.30 is a great time imo for Sebring. So I’m definitely looking forward to trying Paragon R7 race pads.

I'm also running Hawk pads at the moment since I didn't have much of a choice. Not a lot of options out there. Raybestos will continue to be my go-to as soon as they make a pad for these cars.

I gotta say I went out in my garage and check the Hawk DTC 60/30 pads. Damn there's a lot of meat left!!!! Next time out I'll be on them much harder. @1slow_mk5 was also kickin ass out there and on Hawks. So I can't fault em too much. But can always improve my driving :D

They are a pretty okay pad. Not my favorite, but I ran them for a "season" on my other car. I think as you get better and faster, you will find they work really well for you. There should be better pads out there for us, eventually (in the same price range) but the DTCs aren't too bad. I don't think our cars weigh enough to need a DTC70, unless you are full weight and a ton of WHP. For anything up to the speeds you will see with about 500whp, the 60 should be okay. As for 30s in the rear, I'm still learning the balance of our brake systems. It sounds like the rears aren't beat on very hard unless you have nannies on. I assume our car uses brakes for those, as I remember smelling brakes the first time I took this car out on track (I just bought the car so left nannies on).
I'm not saying CSG pads don't work, for the record. I'm sure they are a great pad, they just cost WAY too much. I've also voiced concerns of rotor wear with the CSG pad. With brakes, you have pad wear or rotor wear; take your pick. I'd rather swap pads than rotors, any day.

Great point! Nannies off all the way. Otherwise you’ll definitely see more use.

And sport mode all the way @nebulous13! Sorry I got so far “off track” but damn this thread has been muy helpful ?

Sport mode with the ZF trans in manual mode worked beautifully at Homestead. I had a diff computer error after an alignment 2 days prior to track. Didn’t have time to explore that further, so as a result, all the nannies were turned off, including ABS. The Hawk DTC 60/30 pads performed beautifully! I had to be more cautious not to lock up ofc, but was able to really get on those pads. I will not hesitate buying them in the future. I’m shocked again how much meat is still on those suckers! Eventually I’ll try the Paragons next. They‘re just a pinch pricier but I can’t imagine them being that much better than these Hawks. Me and a lot of Porsches (GT3 and GT4s) and new Vetts were running about the same pace and braking pretty hard and late.

Cool! Glad the pads worked out this time.
