In sport individual, set engine to "normal" or "comfort", not "sport". That'll be much more normal. If you want the muffler valve to be open for more sound, you can pull a fuse to get it to stay open all the time.
On pulling the fuse to keep muffler valve open: can you share which specific fuse and where the fuse box is? I know sometimes cars have multiple fuse boxes.

Also, is there any downside to pulling the fuse (ie, pulling it affects some other system or a CEL is triggered)? Thanks!

I think you just disconnect the wiring harness from the valve itself on the exhaust. People with actual knowledge will correct me if I’m wrong.

I wanted to throw one more idea out there. I’m only two Ax in with the car but this is what I’ve noticed. I run in sport everything and everything off. Coming out of a corner you have to get on the throttle early, a bit earlier than you would think but softly, just enough to load the rear suspension then roll on the throttle progressively till you feel like you can open it all the way. As you play with that you’ll see how aggressive you can go but I think once you load the rear suspension the diff is really good and hooks up well. I’m not perfect so I’ll break the rear unexpectedly sometimes but I think it’s mostly predictable. Throttle discipline is hard to do and slow to come since we naturally just want to smash the gas, luckily for me I learned the hard way driving corvettes before the Supra. It made getting used to it easier.
Going this weekend and exactly what I want to do. Turn all the nannies off and roll the throttle to full. I don't want VSC or traction control coming on mid turns and burning up my pads. Assuming I can hold the button down for longer than 3 seconds and turn it all off ?

Put it in sport mode but set engine to normal. The throttle is way too touchy coming out of tight low speed turns in sport mode. Also, if you have a jb4, set the exhaust flapper to be open all the time. It closes when you set engine mode to normal. All nannies off brings out the real fun!

Thx man! I have an AWE track, so no flappers. Also have a JB4 and been working with Jesse on my custom tune. I really hope I can keep the car in manual mode & slightly roll the throttle. But may stay in manual mode with sport off if it's really that touchy... It should be a fun weekend regardless. Lots of great threads here on how to keep the nannies off and resetting the TPMs.

You may want to also start the day off on map 0. Jesse's tunes make it even harder to keep traction! You will have a blast for sure. Make it a priority to mess with all the settings to see what you like best. Might even try leaving it in auto..... (in sport mode)

I ran my buddies stock Supra with RT660’s at a local event, didn’t really have an issue with sport mode but definitely not a fan of the trans (hence why I’ve ordered a manual). First was useless, so we just put it in manual mode and used second and third. It was enough for the top PAX time, just barely though.

In auto X you don’t need more than stock
Power. You need camber, brakes and seat time
I’d say camber, tires and seat time personally.

All great advice! Manual mode only way to go 4sho. I’ve dialed in roughly -3 camber all around to start and using a 275/35-18 square setup. I’ve done 100+ track days and look forward to more seat time in this puppy. I‘ve used BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tires in the past with John Dean & Nathaniel Sparks at Sick Sideways race team and was blown away with the grip. However they are professional racers and I don’t need those extra seconds. It was expensive as hell, lol. So I found these Maxxis Victra RC-1 recommended from another race shop in California, Goodwin Racing. Been shocked with the durability & grip for the price.

This is exactly what I was needing to hear! Jesse has been great working with me and traction is definitely an issue. I absolutely didn’t need a catless downpipe but I wanted one ?. That with an AWE track exhaust & intake is way more than I needed power wise for my 1st track day with her. It’s nice to know I can just go back to map 0 until Jessie is finishes working his map 6 magic. Thx @Evolution ??

Question for y’all: Sport mode on track days.

I’ll thought sport mode was turned on in manual mode. However, I realized it’s not. I can still hit the sport mode button and turn it on or off in manual mode with the nannies turned off. With that being said, what’s the difference being in sport mode in manual? Throttle response & AVS (adaptive variable suspension)? I’m mildly lowered on Eibach springs (with sway bars) kit.

correct. and the exhaust valve if you still have oem
I "believe" on mine anyway- it holds a slightly high rpm in N,1, and so on

I'll second the recommendation for sport individual with just the engine setting turned off. I was having trouble rolling into the throttle on corner exit and had traction control wagging its finger at me. Turning it off was more consistent for me.

Agree with all the traffic safety nannies off. Forgot that on my first session and the car did NOT like me blasting up the butt of another car coming into turn 1.

I didn’t personally have any issues with traction control or stability control intervening so I left them on. And it did probably save me once. But I wasn’t pushing for absolute 10/10ths. I needed to drive the car home ;^)

Hope the weekend goes smoothly.

Sport mode overall or just engine sport mode?

Sport mode overall opens exhaust flap, gives you PoPsNbAnGs, tightens steering, tightens shocks, different throttle mapping (much more sensitive), gearbox has more aggressive shift mapping and in auto, has more aggressive gear rpm.

Update: Stud conversion complete and sticky Maxxis tires put on. @Jesse DaBears custom Map 6 back on… OMG ? Feels sooooooooo good!!!!!!! I don’t think I ever want to take these tires off. Completely different car. Did a few more pulls 30-80, 40-100 in sport mode auto per Jesse’s request and I’ll be damned… phenom grip, car screaming yet smooth, felt totally in control ❤. Should be a fun weekend indeed ?
