Did my first autocross today with my 3.0. I could not get used to the throttle sensitivity. When the rears broke, they broke hard, causing me to react a lot to avoid spin. I drove my friends M2 and found it was much easier to control during oversteer. Others drove my car and said the throttle was insanely twitchy.

I ended up using racerom to put my car in valet mode, leaving Sport mode off, and running the whole race in 3rd gear. Comfort mode has less sensitive throttle.

Do any of the Sport Individual settings reduce throttle sensitivity? I’d like to run in sport mode but with normal throttle.

Note: I’m new and need practice. But in 12 runs today, I could not figure out how to roll the throttle on progressively.

In sport individual, set engine to "normal" or "comfort", not "sport". That'll be much more normal. If you want the muffler valve to be open for more sound, you can pull a fuse to get it to stay open all the time.

Thanks!

1. I hate Facebook :) But I’ll venture over.
2. I don’t care about noise. I’ll try the engine thing.

I feel you, the throttle with the OEM tune in sport mode is like a light switch. It's REALLY fun at wet track days. Fun as in terrifying. :p

Like others have already stated, if you set individual mode engine mode to normal it's better but still not as linear as I would like. You also lose the pops and bangs if you care about that.

I was going to wait to tune the car but I might tune it just to remap the throttle.

Thanks! My car IS tuned. I guess I should take it back and ask them to adjust the throttle. I have 3 tunes for 93: 422HP, Stock, and Valet (50% boost). I did my best times in valet. ? I didn’t even try the full power.

I dug up the throttle mapping tables.

Here is normal vs sport. You can see Sport is VERY non-linear.

I wanted to throw one more idea out there. I’m only two Ax in with the car but this is what I’ve noticed. I run in sport everything and everything off. Coming out of a corner you have to get on the throttle early, a bit earlier than you would think but softly, just enough to load the rear suspension then roll on the throttle progressively till you feel like you can open it all the way. As you play with that you’ll see how aggressive you can go but I think once you load the rear suspension the diff is really good and hooks up well. I’m not perfect so I’ll break the rear unexpectedly sometimes but I think it’s mostly predictable. Throttle discipline is hard to do and slow to come since we naturally just want to smash the gas, luckily for me I learned the hard way driving corvettes before the Supra. It made getting used to it easier.

Second Autocross this past weekend. Sport Individual. Everything set to Sport except for Engine, which was set to normal.

Also put Falken RT660s on it.

Car was MUCH better. I felt way more in control of the throttle. Now I just need to upgrade the driver.

Thanks everyone for the pointers.

I've done several autocross runs. Highly recommend launching in 2nd and running in 3rd for the track. Since your tuned the power won't really help you but to plow into the corners. I would stick with Engine in Normal for your setup. If you were stock I would recommend Sport Mode on everything. Have fun out there!
