I am sorry because I know I will offend most people here. But I don't care much for drag times. And I know that this particular person is all about holding the steering wheel straight and mashing the pedal and then calling himself "pro racer dude" because he modified his mkv to the point it hits 7s.

TO me it shows he has never been on an actual track and if he did, he would probably think drifting gives you faster laps, and generally, perform probably 50% slower on the average track at the very least compared to others and even get worse lap times versus some guy in a 1990 Accord with an engine that has 30% less hp than when it was new and an awful suspension because people who buy a mkv to just drag it and get 7s I truly don't think the MAJORITY OF THEM (not saying all), have the mind for a nice technical track with a variety of corners that push the car to its absolute limits.

Anyone can do the exact mods he did and get the same times. Just hold the steering wheel straight and mash the pedal. I understand tuning your supra to get low 10s, high 9s.. That will come handy on a track, but I seriously doubt with 7s that his setup would ever fare well on a track especially one with many corners and hairpins.

The track or the canyons are where it's the most fun and challenging. And if you want to get 7s there are more preferable cars for that. I've also met a few people who are all about drag times and my assumptions were correct. They hated the track because they just don't know how to drive at the limit and get a good lap time so they made some excuses and quickly got away to focus on shaving another 0.02 seconds or whatever on the strip
You don't just slap the same upgrades and get the same time this isn't forza and it is definitely much more than "Just hold the steering wheel straight and mash the pedal". The fact is that there are many different things you can compete with your car and none of them are the unique and true way. Regardless of how you, or anyone else, likes it or not. It is still the first to 7s and that is huge thinking on how new this car is.

I respect your opinion about liking circuit more (me too) but that shouldn't make us think less of any other competition where the supra is performing.

Back to topic, is impressive to see how fast that car is launching

You couldn't be more wrong about "anyone can do the exact mods he did and get the same times". There are no bolt on packages to run 7s, a lot of custom stuff and work went into to achieve this.

One could argue that the skill ceiling for track is higher than drag, but both are seriously high skill sports at their upper levels.

The thing that matters most in drag racing is the team. It’s very less individual than the track. These guys were first to possibly do it with this platform. Thousands of combined hours of r&d, tuning, testing, breaking parts, putting new ones back on, etc etc all for that moment they hit a 7. They had that 7 second taste in their mouth from the moment they ran mid 8s.

This is exciting news for our platform in general. I hope Botti and his team celebrate hard. This is awesome
