Hello all! Just got my 2021 3.0 Premium in Silver a couple of weeks ago and I have been enjoying it a lot lately. My first mod that I did was add a carbon duckbill as well as the MST v2 intake. I am now in the rabbit hole of making my car sound even better than what it already is. :D

I just want to start off by saying I have done my fair of research on reddit and these forums regarding catless and catted downpipes but I am more a less looking for some peoples opinions based on what you guys have.

1. As far as I know there are only two catless downpipes that have cat simulators in them to help prevent CEL (ArmyTrix, Kenji)( I am well aware that even the ArmyTrix and Kenji can cause CEL)
2. After market catted downpipes don't seem to do a whole lot in terms of sound and it would just make more sense getting a full exhaust for the cost
3. I am currently not tuned and not currently looking to do that at this time as I am more than satisfied with the power I have

I'd say my main question is what is my best bet for a louder exhaust setup overall? (I have looked at HKS and AWE but feel they aren't loud enough for the price IMO) Also, I have heard that running a catless without a tune can cause potentially a slightly choppier power band curve?

Also just wanted to say that this forum has been great for a new Supra owner like myself and I would love cruise around with anyone who is local to me! Thanks for any advice :)

*Side Note*
What is one mod that you did that you feel really changed up the whole appearance of the car besides tint?

Personally I feel like best bang for your buck would be catless downpipe and stock catback. Unless you wanna go safe and get an AA catted downpipe which is guaranteed not to throw a CEL.

Catted downpipe does notably increase (sport mode) sound (my comparison -

. AA if you want a no CEL guarantee.

You can sell your stock DP for ~$700 probably which will make the upgrade cost minimal.

Biggest visual impact? Wheels. Or front lip.

I just purchased the Catless Armytrix. Only have about 400miles on it and no CEL yet, (I know, not many miles) but after my research this was the one that seemed the most reliable. I daily my car so this was a large concern. Come to think about it, I NEVER actually saw someone who said they got a CEL on it, I only saw posts saying "it can happen"....

I do have the ARK DT-S Exhaust and my goodness, it sounds so good paired with a catless DP now. Before going catless, it sounded good, but was still quiet for my taste. Now, it is so friggin loud. I currently live in an apartment building and cold starts are WAAAAY too loud for someone NOT to complain. (I originally pulled the fuse for my exhaust flap so it always stays open, but I have since put the fuse back in so my cold starts aren't as loud) I do love it bing loud but I don't want to get complaints. This is one of the best exhaust setups I have had for a car, absolutely ZERO drone and gets really loud when the valve is open.

As far as I know, there should be no issues running catless without a tune. I hope not, as that is what I'm doing lol

This was a great video thank you for this. I can defiently hear a difference but I feel I'd personally want more for my money.

I have to agree with you on front splitter and rims. I currently have the stock rims and I hate them so much especially with the chrome. Looks like my next mods are gonna be downpipe and rims!

Haha that sounds great man. Any chance you could possibly get a video of you doing some pulls or drive bys? Have you noticed any difference in the overall powerband curve since installing the dp?

Also gotta say I love your current setup as we have the same color and I am trying to get some black rims as well. Which rims are those?

They are the stock ones powder coated black! Here is another photo (13mm front spacer, 15mm rear):

Believe it or not, I just got new wheels and coilovers installed. I went with the Kansei KNP's, they are a good price.

Wow that looks so clean good job!

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the powder coating on the OEM's?

I paid $800. Looking back, I wish I just saved the money and put it towards new wheels.

I'll try to get some clips this weekend of my car's exhaust. I can tell you, it sounds soooo much better. Catless dp should be everyone's first mod.

OP,
regarding the second point you made, high flow catted increases the loudness of any setup by 20% with a deeper midrange tone. It gives your exhaust a lot more volume in the midrange.

It's an excellent upgrade for customers looking for a mild upgrade in sound or customers who already have an aftermarket exhaust and still wants more.

You can pair your catted downpipe with the AWE or AA exhaust for a perfectly balanced sound.

I recommend you get the AA catted so you do not have to deal with the check engine light.
