This will show up on carfax. Make sure to fight for a significant diminished value payment. You will have difficulty selling the car later on and will get a much lower price because of the carfax accident record. Doesn’t matter that it’s 100% cosmetic. All people will see is $10,000 plus in damage and think it was a major accident. I and I’ll bet most of us on this forum would never consider buying a car with an accident history. Maybe if looking for a winter beater or similar but otherwise a hard no from me…

Yes adjuster mentioned this. I had never heard of this before. Not sure how to argue the point or to fight for a higher value.
One benefit...NO POLICE REPORT. This was by design. in hopes of not making it to a "general reporting" of the 0mph bumper crush. I had the fellow call and report ""fault" immediately. unfortunately GEICO will probably be the entity to report everything for a Supra crash cost estimator for future insurance policies.
If anyone has any insight to fighting for "diminished value payment" I am all ears!

the guy at fault would pay you directly. No insurance. You then would go to an independent body shop and ask them to fix the car (what’s the word I‘m looking for…) under the table. I’m not saying I’ve ever done that ? but your car will be fixed w/out it being on any carfax. Only a trained eye would be able to notice.

OP - sorry for the hit. Repairable yes, but I would have a hard time seeing past the damage done.
To all -- do the horn mod/add mentioned above now. The low note BMW horn is perfect for this car and it should have come with it from the start.

My S2K was a salvage title track car. Like many. So we never went thru all the nit picky details with it…

Yup yup, I'm just being facetious. I can't speak, I've fixed my own car after hitting a mound. Friend bought it, but he also helped me fix it so he knew it's history, haha.

If you're going through his insurance it most likely will be reported but as for Diminished value, at fault insurance will usually low ball the hell out of you as usual.
For best results, get a 3rd party appraisal by a professional appraising company that specializes in diminished value. Should have plenty of options depending on your location but this will be the best way to get the most value for your diminished loss.
