As a GT car, I feel it should have a certain level of amenities, especially at this price point. I personally would consider remote start capability a given for these reasons, in addition to seat cooling and a heated steering wheel. This ain't no Maybach 62, but it's certainly not a base Camry.

I couldn't agree more, simple things like steering wheel heating or ambient light, not to mention electric boot opening should be available, at least as an option

Well .. last week we had -14 (Celsius) here and even with the car in a garage overnight it would be nice to have the option to remote start it.. at these temperatures the ambient temp inside the car drops quickly and it takes time before the engine heats up and can compensate, my house is on the very top of a hill so its idling all the way down but still..
Am I reading this right? You want to remote start the car while it’s in the garage??? Seriously?

I’d like it so I could cool my car down a bit more before leaving the office after having the car sit out in the Texas summer heat all day. Scheduling ventilation might work in some more moderate climates, but it’s not really up to the task around here. I’m not so concerned about warming the car during the winter, mainly because our winters are relatively mild (snowmageddon not withstanding), even if this car is my year-round daily driver.

First, the Supra (obviously) has a cell modem. That's how Nav, Weather, News, and Toyota Connect all work.
Remote start will likely be part of Toyota Connect. Which on its own requires subscription.

Car makers are moving to subscription model for options. More so when Internet through cellular modem is required (remote start, call home, weather and traffic reports etc.).

But based on survey I participated recently I won't be surprise if they will have optional hardware parts installed at the factory, which will only be enabled if customer pays subscription fee. Like unlocking additional power from the engine only while subscription lasts.

Sorry buddy but I fail to see the problem in that.. I open the garage remotely before I go out anyway, so I don't have to stand and wait for it in the cold.. would just open it a few min earlier when starting the car.
You would understand if you lived in a cold climate ?

If I'm close enough to the garage to open it, I'm close enough to the car to start it from the inside.

It gets pretty cold in Chicago, so.. I still don't understand.

It's not a proximity problem, I'm not that lazy? I could go out and fire it up but I don't like to leave the car running and unlocked, and there's now way of locking it with the engine running
maybe I'm just paranoid ?

You could start the car and leave with the key fob, the car won't be able to do anything until the key fob is back inside.

Like @baagel said, you can lock the car when it's running. Bring the fob with you.

I haven't tried that, that could work at home? but not really anywhere else, wouldn't feel comfortable doing that at the office for instance

Nope, won't lock with the fob when the engine is running
Yup. It absolutely will.

I know this before I do it often. Of course, if you get close to it, and try to open it with the key w/ you it auto unlocks.

There might be a setting somewhere you have to switch off? I disabled all the stupid safety shit the second i got it. I vagulely remember something about an audible alert.

You can also just.. lock it with the physical key..

Mine won't, so it's either a EU vs US cars difference or mine is just uncooperative. As soon as the engine is running the fob seams to go inert.
And now I feel really stupid, I honesty didn't think about the physical key.. talk about having a senior moment ?
Completely forgot that we actually have a key.. like I said.. not my brightest moment ???
