Did you check the vehicle settings? I think there's a setting where you can enable/disable it. Maybe the previous owner disabled it

Edit: Also, congrats on the Supra!

The car has a lot of settings you can adjust. I'm not 100% sure if it really does have that specific setting, but I can check afterwards today when I use my car

I think if the fobā€™s battery is low it might have something to do with it. But I am in no way certain about that. Manual might help.

Had the same issue happen to me when I got my Supra with the keyless entry not working properly. I replaced the battery and thoroughly cleaned the inside as debris gets in there and can disrupt the connections and the keys have worked ever since so Iā€™d try making sure itā€™s very clean in there with a fresh battery. Faraday pouch helps keep the key clean debris-free and stops keyless theft.

I know this may sound silly but I had an issue when i first got the Supra with the Keyless lock/unlock and while i actually dont think the system is perfect (doesn't work 100% of the time) it was just understanding the nuance that made a huge difference.

If you want to unlock you slide your hand into the handle and against the mounting point closest to the opening of the door. As long as your index finger is across the whole curvature of the handle it should open almost every time (this was the most consistent one for me).

If you want to lock the door (this is where i had issues) you have to touch the top of the handle where the little ribs are with the end of your finger.

I was so sure it was broken when i first got it i took it into the main dealer and the guy took the handle apart. He said the sensors for open and close are extremely close together so finding where the boundaries are for yourself can help a lot.

Maybe this isn't what you are after but if you can hear the lock clicking but nothing happening this could be why.

By coincidence, I was having trouble with my key while away over the weekend where I could not open the boot or unlock door. (although it would work fine when I grabbed the door handle) It all works fine again now Iā€™m back home.

The only thing I can think of was that I had parked reversed right up against a high stone wall that was somehow interfering with the signal.. (Or my car hates being next to a beach šŸ˜)

Just for the records to add my experience, I must say for my Supra they keyless entry works flawlessly, you only need to touch the inside of the handle with just 1 digit alone and it will open, and likewise the smallest touch on the ridges locks it so it's very satisfying.

My daily is a 2023 Stellantis group car, brand new, it has keyless entry too, BUT it is absolute CARNAGE, it drives me up the wall, you never know what's happening with it, stark difference to the Supra - it does have flush handles Tesla style which pop out as you walk to it which looks cool (when it works).
