Hamilton and Leclerc disqualified for having their legality plank worn down too much.
Wow ?

Updated United States GP result
1) Max Verstappen, Red Bull
2) Lando Norris, McLaren
3) Carlos Sainz, Ferrari
4) Sergio Perez, Red Bull
5) George Russell, Mercedes
6) Pierre Gasly, Alpine
7) Lance Stroll, Aston Martin
8) Yuki Tsunoda, AlphaTauri
9) Alex Albon, Williams
10) Logan Sargeant, Williams

Kudos to Toto: "In the end, all of that doesn't matter; others got it right where we got it wrong and there's no wiggle room in the rules. We need to take it on the chin, do the learning, and come back stronger next weekend."

Did loosing the ground clearance skids make that much of a difference to totally disqualify them? That’s insane!

Also, Max really showed what a champion driver he is. Managing his brakes the way he did. Had Hamilton and team MB known, they could have switch to a two stop strategy much sooner and attacked Max and likely won (excluding being disqualified- ouch). They all thought he was doing his Max thang, managing his tires & pace and had way more speed. Yet he didn’t. That’s a lot of respect. Can’t blame the other drivers for being cautious against Max.

Biggest dislike ? -all the Max haters in Austin booing him at the trophy ceremony. WTF ? ? Love Texas but that’s an odd city to say the least. Wish they could move that track to Houston or Dallas. Max must represent hard work ethics or said something to offend the Karens of America.

Here's the thing about the floor measurements, the reason why it's a big deal is safety. So it's for the safety of the drivers that there isn't excessive wear on the floor, which is a key part of the structure and safety of the driver.

So from what I understand, there are a number of reasons why this happened. First is due to the extra laps from the sprint race. Second is the track is very bumpy. Third is the lack of practice and data to indicate that the car is too low and could have an issue meeting this requirement. Any of those 3 being different and this would not have been an issue. Typically teams have a decent amount of data from practice and time to make adjustments before their "set up" is locked in. But for all the teams they were locked in when qualifying happened on Friday (obviously some of the teams at the back decided to change their setup and start from the pit lane during the GP). I think this is likely a learning experience for the teams and FIA to try and cut down on this possibility in the future.

About Max, yes he drove amazingly all weekend, buuuuut, as I have pointed out in the past, when he isn't way ahead of the people behind him and actually has to drive at the limit, he is as loud with his complaints as any other driver. So the only reason why we don't hear more of this is because his season has been mostly him about a half hour down the road from everyone else by the checker flag.

Why did the fans in Texas boo Max, two big reasons, first is there are a lot of people from Mexico that now live in Texas, so they are Checo fans. The second reason is that Lewis is about as popular in the US as he is in England, so there is a bit of extra hate for Max in the US overall. It's unfortunate as Max drove amazingly this weekend and deserved both wins, regardless of how many wins he has had this season, it doesn't mean he should just let someone else win.

Have you noticed this one thing, it's not often that you hear Max give major props to his team or the development of the car after a race, but it seems like Lewis is always praising up his team during and after the race. Now this could really be just a difference of when Max gives the team props (likely behind closed doors) and the fact that Lewis can sometimes come off as someone who "manages" his image a bit more than other drivers.

I was pretty sad that Lando couldn't make the next step and win a race, but a podium is still an amazing outcome. Passing Aston in the standings was key for this team.

Speaking of Aston, holy cow they have fallen on their faces. From really nailing the car design at the beginning of the season, they have been severely out engineered all season since. I feel like that team doesn't just need a new driver to replace Stroll, but a much better developmental team to keep pace with the competition. Right now it looks like McLaren will be fighting for 2nd place next season and Aston looks like they might be fighting Alpine to stay in the top 5. I can only imagine how frustrated Alonso must be right now, considering he basically demanded his car to be switched back to last weekends.

Looking forward to next weekend and really hoping that Checo can have a good weekend and get back on the podium at the very least. You always want to do well in front of your home crowd.

I'm just laughing at all the fools (who probably watched the SKY broadcast) who believe Toto and Hamilton's comments of how they are close to Red Bull now.

I guess they didn't watch the Sprint where the real pace difference showed when both cars worked 100%.

Max nursing a brake problem, Mercedes: "look at the gains we made".

It's just funny.

On to Mexico. Mercedes might have a good (legitimate) shot there at high altitude. Their car has always been draggy, and the high altitude alleviates that. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mercedes do well there, and Brazil.

Didn’t even realize skids in your name, you would know, lol. But I like that reason. Keep the drivers safer. Makes sense. Thank you amigo!

I hear Max saying over the radio all the time praise to the team, keep up the great work, thanks to you guys, etc. So maybe it’s because I’ve been watching it on my recorded less edited Xfinity Comcast version of the race. Yes this was the 1st weekend he was actually fighting to keep the car on the edge. That should be a forced thing, not drive like that into every corner. I’ve been on bad brakes at the track and man it sucks!!!! I couldn’t imagine at those speeds and cost… My wife was commenting how she’d be telling that engineer to shut the hell up too. It’s funny because she does with me when I’m on the radio with her. Unless she’s on the straights and it’s an easy correction. So she definitely gets his frustration.

What I do see with Lewis is a big ham ? . He’s a showman and it’s just too obvious for me to like. That’s unfortunately because he’s such a great driver. However most Americans love pretenders, Hollywood types. Hence his popularity. I’d prefer to see him loosen up that “fakeness” in front of the cameras. Do they need it to some degree? Absolutely! Watch Lando sometime. His smile goes away quickly when the interview is done. These guys are trained to preform in multiple ways. Max just drives and praises when he thinks it’s applicable. So I (and my wife) love his honesty. I think Lando does a good job of keeping it right down the middle. Thus his popularity.

I did finally get my F1 app subscription fired up! Looks cool ? I bought it in the F1 news app and needed to download another app. But now see all the extra content. I’ll definitely try streaming it to one of the TVs this weekend, being off. I’m stoked!

There’s no doubt that all the drivers are extensively coached in media relations.

Yes of course, but some are much better at keeping their cool in the moment. A good example is Lance Stroll the last weekend and his interview right after, of course Stroll knows better and what to do, but he was so pissed off that he couldn't restrain himself.

I don't fault Lewis for not losing his cool, or for always saying the right things. It can sometimes come off as disingenuous but I think for the most part he truly feels that about his team. I also think he has a lot more to lose if he says the wrong thing, he wants to be as marketable as possible and have a career after the sport is done. A guy like Kimi didn't give two shits about that, and that's why he always spoke his mind.

Daniel Ricciardo putting the Alphatauri into P4, damn.

Coming for Checo's seat and must have Max sweating if he can do that with a backmarker.
Lol no. Max doesn't sweat anybody. Ric did an amazing job, no doubt. But Albon was playing in the same positions until his lap got deleted. The high altitude affects cars differently. Coupled with the ridiculous long straight there's time to be had. Will be fun to see how the race develops.
