So here's a question then, reading online that, according to the regs, FP3 & quali have to be delayed because "FP3 cannot start until at least 18 hours after the conclusion of FP2." & "Quali has start between 2-3 hours after FP3"...

So will FP3 & Quali be delayed into the early morning hours OR will they (FIA/whoever) break thier own regs and bring it forward but still keep the 10 place grid penality for Sainz because those regs are immutable?

The penalty is BS. That is totally unfair to Sainz. Really feel bad for Ferrari. Regardless who you support it is just straight unfair, It was not on them that someone dropped the ball with track prep, they are lucky no one got hurt. Ferrari should appeal and make a big deal out of this, hell I would.

Absolutely right. But then you'll get claims of "he hit me, I had nothing to do with it." And so on. It'll never stop.

Yep, definitely a slippery slope. I’d say F1 should be able to separate damage from “racing” vs damage from other reasons, but we all know F1 is too busy getting in its own way at the moment.

LIberty Media, FIA, & F1 could careless about what is fair as long as they make money.. thanks to drive to survive - although i liked it before, it is ruining the sport, I think..

Its not really going to effect the cost cap. the parts and replacement parts are already built. If this was the start of the year or middle of the year they would have to make replacements. But with this being the 2nd to last race of the year they don't have to make any replacements since they already have enough as Vasseur stated.

Maybe it will be like Maylasia and the track compensate Ferrari like they did to HAAS then when a manhole messed up his tire and damaged the car. (im not holding my breath though)

Isn't that what it's about. Hell, the teams are doing everything they can to not allow GM and Andretti in because of money. The more they make the more they distribute. For us its about racing, for everyone else but maybe the drivers its about the money.

Parts only count when they're mounted to the car. They can spend 10 Billion on parts if they want. It only counts towards the cap if they're used.

The FIA team principals press conference was pretty cool to watch. Kudos to Toto for losing his shit when they suggested this is a black eye to the Vegas venue. He couldn’t contain himself. Pretty fun to watch. And poor Fred… I do feel for the guy no doubt. But it sounds like many of them have been there before at other circuits.

In the end we’ll have to see how the race goes to really call Vegas a win or success. And even then, as Toto said, it’s going to take many years and hindsight to button down any new event.

My wife tricked me and made me watch the “pregame” show or whatever they called it. She was suppose to watch it and lemme know when she was done so we could watch P1 & P2 together. I’ll be damned. It was way better than I expected, except the drivers at the end. I think they could have left them out of it. Maybe because I’ve only heard ? about it, it was way better than I expected.



Also, the travel marketing worked imo. I thought I was done with Vegas. Just not my thing. But now, I’d go to this race for sure! Great hotels, probably the least stress on the spectators, everything is close, no favelas (like in Brazil) to fear for your life. Count Vegas high up on my list of F1 events to attend.

Wasn’t one of the best races of the year, but it wasnt the worst by far either. I thought it was a really good race. Lots of good racing through out the whole grid.
