That pricing makes me happy, as long as Canada doesn’t get screwed with the exchange rate, I don’t think we will but who knows.
If Toyota is consistent in its cross-border currency markup with what it charges on the base 86, we'll see a price in CAD that's 113.4% of the U.S. price. So about $56,700 CAD for a $50k USD base Supra. Fingers crossed.

I wonder if Toyota is keeping HP numbers conservative on the intro cars for insurance reasons. I know that my insurance for the STI is drastically more than a WRX because of the HP rating of the STI....it falls in a different bracket.

My bet this is BMWs doing. The Germans are good for underrating their engines.

As others have said, BMW underrates their engines, so I'll write this in caps for folks:

THIS CAR WILL LIKELY DYNO AT ~3-330WHP

So, it's more like a Toyota rating of 370hp at the crank. So dont freak out about the output lol.
Just a theory, but maybe it was an agreement made with BMW that said Toyota had to state on paper thats its "only 335hp", but in reality it makes a little more? Similar to the Gentleman's Agreement?

That is my guess also. Whether its due in part of not stepping on the Z4 sales or with the higher performance version on the horizon.

Guys... I don’t think it’s worth it to get into an argument over this.

Many people have their eyes on this car and it’s totally fine. We all wish that it will appeal to as many people as possible.

I know people who drive Miatas and S2k’s who are paying close attention.
I know people who drive Charger SRT8’s and modded Mustang Cobras who are looking closely
I know people who have driven Camry’s and Corolla’s throughout their lives only, are now professionals and are interested in this car.

It’s ok to appeal to those who want to carve canyons and launch in a straight line at the same time. Let’s hope there is a little bit of something for everyone at the end of the day

Tada's friend said there was a specific reason for it relating to reliability iirc, but this was a long time ago when I asked about it being 340ps (my actual question was why not more).
