Top speed on the straights was within 1mph. Power alone is not the reason why the 6MT was faster on track.
i know you were just trolling, trying to cause some laughs

but in case anyone is looking for an explanation..

2023 suspension revisions, more power, and less shifting [varies per track configuration]

Lol thank you! Yes, totally agree with what you said.

Anecdotally, the 6MT felt like it was able to rotate better in the corners without oversteering like my 2020. They also completely eliminated the bump steer issue so you can be a bit more aggressive on the curbs without unsettling the car.

Although most of the difference Car & Driver found can be attributed to driver skill as they switched drivers from 2022 to 2023, they found a similar 4 second gap between a 2022 8AT and a 2023 6MT.

Going from the first gen 2020 to a 24 MT is a MASSIVE step up. There's only a handful of us on here that have owned multiple MKVs in the different revision stages, & know full well that my God did this car improve. Sooo many other tweaks & changes that nobody knows about...like how the durometer of the rear sway bar bushings was changed for 2023-up, which shows just how nerdy they're being with continued track testing and so on

That's why it boils my blood when people are shopping for used ones and not understanding the differences between them, considering how closely priced they are, and they're plunking down big money for (in my educated opinion) an inferior car. It boggles the mind.

This shit doesn't happen in the Viper and (good, yes, I know, they do exist) Corvette communities. People are usually very well informed about the pros & cons of the different years/generations/trim levels and make informed decisions...whereas countless MKV buyers don't do jack for research before they impulsively scoop one up.

Agree. Good point. And thank you for the perspective.

If I were buying my first MKV today, I'd take this post and do my research.

However, I bought my 2020 new back in 8/20 and have zero regrets. Even after the 47hp bump just shortly thereafter for the 2021 model year along with annual improvements. Lol. *sigh*

If I had to do it all again, I'd probably go for the latest rendition. Would I voluntarily sell my '20 for the '24 (or '25) with the latest tech, bells and whistles? Nope. Not even for the mythological targa. Lol.

when searching for my second, 23s were either nowhere to be found (all reserved) or MTs were 65+, silver 21 i liked had sus carfax that dealership did not disclose, 22 black w/ MARS had JB4 and no warranty, and the 21 nitro i put a deposit on had a DESTROYED interior......
^ florida and NC

so i settled on a launch edition
^ ohio

i did my search but at that time the market sucked :(. and i didn't have a "second" car during that time to be using meanwhile

edit: i specifically remember a used renaissance MT being more expensive than a new absolute MT... man, stressful times

It is a beautiful shot, because men love the mystery & anticipation of seeing something slightly more than actually seeing it. The teasing aspect is mint.

It's almost like the first time your girl takes her bra off in front of you. You're like "yessss, finallly!!" and thirty seconds later you're thinking, 'okay now they're kind of boring, big deal' so she puts it back on...and suddenly you're like "wait! I wanna see them again!"

Sorry to hear man! Both times I went out of the state of Florida. Price (demand) is insane down here. And both times it was a good experience. I did have to shop around. I’m a glutton for punishment I suppose and enjoy that aspect. Love rewarding the good dealers out there & finding those deals.

You are right. Most new car shoppers/buyers will be getting an updated and improved car. I love that they are tweaking the OEM version. However, you’re talking to the wrong crowd on a tuner forum ? From this minority owner perspective, any rendition can easily be turned into a track, drag monster or show car. I can‘t imagine Dodge Vipers having the plethora of options we do for ours.
