Hi,

I currently have the GT86 which has served me well. Also had 2 x MR2 Spyders (na and turbo) + 2 x R33 Skyline, 200SX etc.

Looking to get a MkV Supra and needing some advice please.

I see they only come with a 3 year warranty which is not comforting.

Are there any specific year models to avoid? I see posts around the higher output motors burning oil and even that Toyota was replacing engines. Toyota South Africa isn't one to admit issues and where there may be replacements in other parts of the world one would need to fight to get such here. So I'm not keen on risking it and having a motor which is burning oil.

Any other common issues?

MY 2020s had the detuned engines. But they are reach similar power levels when tuned.

MY 2021s had oil consumption issues, but not in all cars.

Otherwise, they are the most reliable BMWs. :)

It's a Euro car.. means, it is a hit or miss. You might get a well behaving car like mine, or a faktarded screaming pansy tard like some of those others..

GL with your purchase. I'd keep that GT86 (if MT) and get a AT Supra.

Thanks. Yes the plan is to keep the 86
It is MT. Ideally I'd like the MT Supra but they still a little too pricey

Our cars come with five year warranty so despite not doing so in your area, Toyota does have confidence in the car, generally.

No real issues after a year of ownership, other than being a little disappointed in the quality of the manual transmission. MY23.
