You're joking right? Everything under the hood gets the heat of the engine. That ain't sealed off from the rest of the engine bay.
what you are describing is not specific to the MST, it applies to almost every intake on the market except the fully closed one

That is exactly why I pointed it out? That little open window sucks in hot air. Why are you arguing with me on that since you just pointed out I am correct?

Any idea if it fits the factory strut braces? Can't find any pictures with it and the braces, but based on the pics I've seen it appears it should fit?

Reached out to MST as well, will comment if they reply.
I used google translate on the dyno video they posted - they claim they designed it to fit factory and aftermarket strut braces in the video.

Do you recall anything about performance gains or engine air intake temp?

The video shows +6hp and +16ft/lb
Their website states " Max gains 10-12hp and 20nm ( 14.75ft/lb )"

So yeah probably something to be gained with the intake alone and even more with supporting mods....

As far as intake temps they don't talk about it. But I think as razorlab mentioned it's likely some heat from the engine bay will dilute the air coming from the OEM intake duct. So if this is a big concern of yours you'd want to consider other provisions to keep your engine bay cool like an aftermarket duct, aftermarket heat exchanger, etc.

Personally I'm just gonna rock it cuz it sounds meaty as fuck and they mention a good boost to throttle response which will help with heal/toe shifting with the overly sensitive OEM pads. But yeah I'll update with some IATs once I get it in.

This opening is sucking in 100% hot engine air. The air inlet is at the bottom by the headlight.

This is exactly why I’d get the Injen if I were to do it all over again. However my older version MST with the clear plexiglass looks nice (when it’s not so friggin dirty) and I can hear the turbo wooshing ? much easier (for fun) ?

I like what Toyota did with the GT4. That would be a nice aftermarket offering/upgrade someday. If anyone starts making it.

FWIW MST replied back and shared " our intake is designed to avoid the strut bars ", I assume that means it's compatible.

Also found a marketing video MST made showing it installed with an aftermarket strut brace so it should be good with stock.

Hilarious when they show dyno gains by placing giant fans around the intake + having the hood open.

Does sucking in "hot" air matter if it's going through a hotter turbo? I'm just wondering. On N/A cars yes iat matter on the intake. How hot does a turbo get that blows hot air that goes to an intercooler?

With charge temps at 300F+, every degree less is heat the intercooler doesn’t have to work to shed.
