That's my damn fear and luck that I would break something.
It's actually really easy if you study first. Look at pics of the inside of the wheel. You have to push straight on the spring to move the prongs that hold the airbag on.

might be easier to start on the right side of the wheel to release the two tabs then switch over to the left for the last one. :dunno:

don't worry, if you grind away the plastic that holds down the spring in your attempts, Optimusprimerib can show you how to rebuild it with jbweld.

This was actually done a while ago but I saw @O_B_S's post and thought I'd chime in and also throw my support behind the wheels supplied by @NitroYellowMKV. From the drivers seat they visually lift the quality of the interior way more than I expected. The impact on steering feel is substantial. To the point where I'd consider this a near essential mod.

Also considered the BMW wheel swaps but there seemed to be a few to many trade offs with reduced functionality and recently there appears that there may be some other issues with maintenance. The large OEM airbag doesn't look so bulky once the wheel rim is better proportioned.

Went for the classy/OEM+ look with all leather rim, stitching and centre line that matches the seats, flat bottom and minimal thumb cutouts. Ignore the marks, that's just post install cleaning product residue.

OMG that SUCKS. Is it gonna take that long again?
If they can even get the wheels still, as they were suppose to be the 30th anniversary edition which orders ended in Dec for them. BBS USA is gunna see if they can convince Japan to make 1 more set but yeah delivery time would be 6-9months again

Had a similar thing happen with my Works - took 9-12 months to get em, fronts didn't fit, took another 4-6 to get the replacement fronts, had to pay import duty twice on the fronts, and then get the CBSA to refund the duty on the original fronts that were sent back!...
