2022 GR Supra 2.0 SZ
Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a 2022 Supra 2.0 (JP-market SZ model), and I’m absolutely loving it so far! However, after some research, I discovered that my model is the lower-output version with 195 HP, compared to the 255 HP base model in the US.

I’m currently considering a Stage 1 tune (though I’m open to other recommendations). My main question is:
  • is there any hardware different between the 195HP ver and 255 HP ver?
  • Since the engine (B48) is mechanically similar, can tuning bridge the gap between the 195 HP and 255 HP versions?
  • I’ve seen claims of 310 HP with Stage 1 on the US-spec B48—does this apply to the JP-spec as well, or is the ceiling lower?
  • How much power can I realistically expect without major hardware changes?
I’d appreciate any insights from those who’ve tuned a JP-spec 2.0 or have experience with the B48 in this platform.

Yea the 195hp version is a B48B20M1 while the 255hp version is a B48B20O1

You basically get the BMW 320i version while the USA gets the BMW 330i version.

AFAIK, different turbo, different compression, different intercooler design, etc.

HOWEVER, I have also heard in some regions, the 320i and the 330i use the same engine. So it gets a bit confusing.

Thanks for the comment, How do I tell I am on a B48B20M1 or B48B20O1 from looking up the enginee? So many tags on the enginee parts and couldnt figure out, sorry for dumb questions.
