G8x Steering Wheel installed, everything works perfectly!

The leather and sickness feels perfect now. Has always been disappointed on the OEM wheel.

Customized mine for a great price on modaura. Talk to their support and just say you need a discount, they will get you a better deal. 😂😂

I had issue with airbag warning light, after talking to the support they mentioned the airbag was incompatible and gave me a wiring solution. All works perfectly fine now. Obviously the m1/m2 button doesn’t work, but I do have a next/previous button for changing songs now haha!

Also ordered a set of forged wheels from the site. Will see how it goes.

Assuming it's a single stage air bag? What was the wiring solution they gave you? The single stage air bag causes the air bag light.

Next question, everything works perfectly? How confident are you that the air bag will deploy compared to the dual stage air bags the Supra comes with.

Go through Leather Werks Auto (use my code mattmk5 for 10% off) and they will send you the proper airbag so you dont have to worry about that.

Do you know what that extra plug is on the OEM air bag? There’s two big plugs then a small white one. The dual stage air bags I’ve seen, and I have one, only have the two big plugs.

The Supra airbag and bmw G-series airbag have slightly different wiring. THat small extra plug is not used on the g-series airbag. Its most important to ensure the main large plug has all 6 wires going to the airbag, that indicates its multi-stage.

Went and took a pic and compared to my extra g-series airbag.

The large plug is the airbag plug. It should have 6 wires, 4 for the primary stage and 2 for the secondary stage. The primary stage is in the middle (green and black connectors) and the secondary stage is at the top (black round piece wrapped in grey wire).

The white plug is for the horn. On the G-series wheels/airbags, this isnt there as the connectors and sensors for the horn are on the wheel, not the airbag.

Thanks for the info! All your buttons work?

I have a MT and I’ve seen some buttons will work depending on the ecus latest Istep update? Seemed like 2024 and up had all their buttons working.

Oh btw. Should also check if the air bags are good to be used. I think there was an airbag recall for some models. Potential for debris to be blown into your face.

You are right that it is a single stage airbag, and OEM uses dual stage. I didn't do much research before buying so I think part of the responsibility was on me. The seller is a Chinese factory and they ship worldwide, and I believe they told me some parts of the world's Supra uses single stage.

The issue was that there was a small gadget that measures/controls how far the airbag should be released missing from the aftermarket steering wheel. We faked it using a 2.2 ohm resistor so that the control unit thinks that gadget is there.

The airbag comes from TRW, which is a genuine BMW parts manufacturer. The electric pulse that releases the airbag should only come from the two wiring directly attached on airbag, not other gadget. So I am fairly confident.

Attached is the aftermarket airbag. I think even ZF (original manufacturer of Supra airbags) uses TRW.

Thanks for the Info! Hopefully you'll never be in a situation where you have to find out about the air bag working lol

@Eastwood might be on to something here. doing this can cause serious injury. on a low impact accident a single stage airbag might deploy with too much force or worse not deploy at all. so now NEW question! can someone retro fit dual stage airbag onto the g80 wheel so it'll work on our cars 😂

The seller said that they sent me the wrong airbag since in some regions Supra does come with single stage airbags from factory.. so I would assume that they do have the dual stage airbags. Just need to specify that when ordering.
