Yeah, i cleaned them and regreased them. But I'm still missing two bearings on one side. It also damaged the plastic, since it was pressed up against the plate without the top on. I'm going to order two new ones and swap them out. I'm pretty good and fast at getting the shock out now that I've done it.....like 6 times now. Ha.Yeah it's a pretty large one. I would take both top (from OEM hat) and bottom (from spring) out. Disassemble them, clean everything thoroughly using soap and water, dry them then apply new bearing grease. Make sure they can roll smoothly before putting them back.
One mistake I made was not doing the above after placing these 15 bearings back. Apparently some dust and sand got picked up from the grange floor, creating frictions and noise when turning the steering wheel. Ended up opening it up again to clean.
Also if in doubt, always replace the entire bearing. IMO $45 is not too expensive compared to a failure in the future.

But but... crustacean said he could do over -4*, so you all must be wrong.I would advise all you Verus top hat users to not go over 3.5° camber. That plastic bearing will rub on the shock towers and they will be ruined.

Mind sharing the $45 link you found? I see some for more than that, and I see one on ebay for about that.Yeah it's a pretty large one. It's the eBay one. Otherwise you'll need to order the entire assembly with the top hat from Toyota.Mind sharing the $45 link you found? I see some for more than that, and I see one on ebay for about that.
Is this from the top of the tower or from the side? It's already rubbing the inner tower wall with 2.9 degrees + everything stock. I may need to backoff for 1 mm to give it more space.I would advise all you Verus top hat users to not go over 3.5° camber. That plastic bearing will rub on the shock towers and they will be ruined.

Yeah, the impact wrench seems useless anyways, it just spins without a pass through. It's the eBay one. Otherwise you'll need to order the entire assembly with the top hat from Toyota.
The only thing I'd worry about is the 27mm top nut part. The installation guide from Verus is recommending impact wrench on everything. While BMW advise NOT to use impact wrench on ANY suspension part in ISTA because it may damage the inner piston in the damper. Ideally you'll need a large passthrough wrench with 27mm socket, with a regular socket to counter hold the inner nut that secures the adapter sleeve so everything can be torque it properly.
OEM's can be found for around $8XMind sharing the $45 link you found? I see some for more than that, and I see one on ebay for about that.
3.5° is even pushing it. How he got to 4, no one will ever know. Maybe just dont run the bearing? But but... crustacean said he could do over -4*, so you all must be wrong.
You can see where I clearanced it a hair so that I could safely get to 3.5. This is on the inside. Is this from the top of the tower or from the side? It's already rubbing the inner tower wall with 2.9 degrees + everything stock. I may need to backoff for 1 mm to give it more space.
Most likely just making stuff up as usual. How he got to 4, no one will ever know.
every car is different. does seem to be more then most, but only on that one side.3.5° is even pushing it. How he got to 4, no one will ever know. Maybe just dont run the bearing?

you also have to keep in mind that there is more clearance at ride height. It’s when it’s at full droop when the bearing hits. So at ride height, yes 4 degrees is possible but as soon as you go to full droop, bye bye bearing.every car is different. does seem to be more then most, but only on that one side.

Only has 2* in it now, but we changed over to a street/drag alignment after deciding not to road race the car. The bearing hat was slightly dinged but not as bad as yours, as I've had the struts out since then. The febest/ebay parts seem fine.
I think the admins put crusty crustacean on forced ignore for me because he was crying about his feelings being hurt so I can't see anything he posts... but I am assuming you are responding to the sea creature, not me?you also have to keep in mind that there is more clearance at ride height. correct. Replying to the guy who licks lobsters for a living. He is car bowling now so there is that….I think the admins put crusty crustacean on forced ignore for me because he was crying about his feelings being hurt so I can't see anything he posts... but I am assuming you are responding to the sea creature, not me?
