Has anyone actually bought or seen this color in person in the US?

I'm beginning to think that this color is not in production at all, at least right now. I originally was going to order the matte gray, but am getting yellow instead (it was a very close second for me).

The sales manager was kind enough to show me the order entry and it asks for a 1st and 2nd color choice, matte gray was not even listed. If what the manager said was true, there's only 1-2 per state for the US and I assume they're probably being allocated similar to LEs if that's the case. I feel that if someone managed to get matte, it would have found it's way into public information.

I guess there's still the possibility for it to start rolling out in later production runs, but I decided to not hold my breath.

I studied every allocation of every dealership in the United States and nobody has a Phantom coming in. The belief is that you'd have to custom order that.

I was able to walk into a dealership and place an order for a phantom grey no issues... although he did mention that allocations were dealer specific. I was told it would arrive sometime later this year.

Interesting, definitely let me know how that goes. My dealership didn't seem like they were able to place custom orders, but I didn't push them hard on it. I'm really curious to know if it was an allocated VIN that they're getting for you on a dealer trade or something through corporate, or if it's a true custom order. I would say that loki is probably correct though, especially since the program that my dealership used didn't seem to be a full custom order, but more of a way to request an allocation from Toyota. Looking forward to seeing some more pics of the matte gray.

The Supra that SupraDupra ordered while it probably is Phantom but it does NOT have a Vin Number associated to it yet, thus why I was unable to locate that one. I myself want a Phantom but as I ponder more and more about it the $1500 upcharge for that color is close to what it would cost to wrap.

So I've considered just going with Turbulence and then perhaps wrapping it. I'm still undecided but that's what I've told myself which may be incorrect but I think the best course of action is just for me to wait and (Save Money) and then make the purchase when I'm 100% sure. Still loving driving around my Mark Four though.

That would make sense, guess it just depends on the dealer that you're working with. I too ended up passing partially because of the $1500 and I was honestly thinking I'd get tired of gray (even if it's the cool matte finish) before getting tired of yellow. As for a wrap, I'm not sure if there is an extra cost associated with matte PPF, since you can't just use normal PPF on a matte finish. Otherwise I would assume it's the same cost as any other color to wrap.

No shame in waiting, I was considering doing the same but the opportunity came up at a good time for me to make the purchase. Enjoy your mk4 while you wait!

There is generally an extra cost associated with matte PPF because it's a much trickier material to produce and, even though it costs more, the profit margins for the PPF makers are actually lower on matte materials. In terms of pricing, I was quoted $6,000 for the entire car with Xpel Stealth (matte) PPF versus $5,500 for Xpel's clear PPF (and it would've been $500 less on each of those prices for the Suntek equivalent).

With respect to the Phantom grey matte Supra, when I placed the order, it was a custom order instead of some sort of allocation. The dealer had some special screen whereby they were able to place the order.

So the news I can give you is that there are NO VIN's associated to a Phantom in other words there are no Statuses updated to a Phantom. I don't believe production has even begun on a Phantom Yet. And I do not expect to see any Phantoms until April of 2020 at the earliest but most likely Summer of 2020 so June/July again that's just an educated guess based on the data I see and what I know within the US Market.

However I'm sure others and yourself lol can verify I'm not bad/terrible at these predictions ;)

That’s what I read also. 250 in black and 250 white
Hopefully you can do it for under $1500 and save money :) I'm picking between Renaissance Red 1.0 however I do realize this is a German Car so a part of me is leaning towards Ferrari Grigio Medio. I really shouldn't be Launch Edition Owner, lol Meh...

In case nobody knows what color that is:

Looking good mate! has it changed the appearance or texture at all? I’ve just dropped mine off for full PPF

Do you think ceramic coating on your wheels is easy enough to do yourself?
