There hasn’t been many options for MT as far as shift knobs go. Especially for a nice Ti one. Just sharing my setup for those looking for examples of what to expect.
this is Billetworkz’ Ti torched sphere. It has nice weight to it but I will say feels as heavy or maybe even a bit LESS heavy than stock. Not noticeable unless you’re a neurotic OCD like myself but an observation worth at least mentioning. Due to the sheer size of the knob being abit bigger than stock, and center of gravity moving upwards vs the stock knob, shifting feels a tad different. Not a bad different just maybe less notchy? Simply due to the physics of where the weight is. Again, doesn’t bother me at all but worth mentioning it doesn’t feel exactly like stock but why would it.
I used an OEM knob/boot I bought and cut it for this new knob. You can certainly use the one that came in your car but I wanted ti preserve mine. I used a simple exacto knife (please be careful) and went slow. I basically cut it as high as possible off the stock knob’s neck to error on needing to cut off more if I need to (I didn’t).
I used this knob with billetworkz’ BMW non threaded adaptor and collar. Everything fits nicely. Make sure you make the zip tie tight around the collar underneath the boot to endure the boot doesn’t slide off the adaptor during shifting. A problem I ran into that was remedied by tightening the zip tie as tight as possible.
I love this knob. I love titanium. Always did. In fact, this very knob was transferred from another one of my cars as it was more fitting for the look I’m going for.
sorry for the lengthy post but this was the type of information I was looking for when researching knobs. Pardon the dust.
