Personally, I wouldn't get rid of the Nismo 370Z. I own an '11 370Z Sport and I know what the Nismo version drives like.

Itā€™s a great daily driver, which is why I got it, trading in my 240i. (My weekend warrior car is a ā€˜19 ZR1) As a sports car, the Supra is alright too ;) The horn I replaced. Wind buffeting not an issue for me personally since I donā€™t drive with both windows down. Over all, great car. The JB4 brings it to life.

thank you for all the responses.

still need to test drive a BMW to see how the transmission is and then take my two cars to carmax and see what they would be willing to give me for it then try to find a dealer down in socal who isn't asking for a mark up.

It is a great daily commute car. The ZF transmission is quick and seems to always find the right gear. The car is very comfortable to drive in LA traffic. Wind buffetting is a real issue.
Nice to hear from a local that has driven in awful la traffic lol.
The wind buffering is going to be an issue for me because I love to drive with the windows down and rarely drive with them closed. Definitely gotta see how that is. I might check out Turo and see if they have any on there.
So did you test drive any BMW's to get a feel for the powertrain? Are you going to get a Supra?
I didnā€™t have the time last weekend unfortunately but do plan on going this weekend to feel the ZF. Leaning towards getting it (like a 75/25) but really hard because I like the Z also and gotta figure out how much of a loss i'll be taking.

Yeah. It drives great. Thereā€™s a few things I donā€™t like such as the heavy flywheel but overall I like it. It's either I get rid of the it to get the supra or mod the things i don't like about it.

Hey man,

Coming from somebody who didn't like the car, I truly LOVE every time I get to drive it. If I were in your shoes, I'd get rid of the NISMO Z. Helluva car, but you still have a Type-r which would fulfill your manual needs. I semi-daily my Supra, and at first, I was hesitant to drive because I didn't feel "comfortable" (mentally and physically). GTR and my Accord had me used to wide spacious cars. My MKIV also felt roomier. Now I jump in the MKV and I'm OUT!

ZF trans shifts like butter so I wouldn't even worry about it. The car is comfortable and agile so its fun as hell to rip it around. The wind noise does annoy me because I always drive with my windows down, but my ears just adjusted to it. Plus people are trying to engineer something to remedy that. So that should not be a reason to not buy the car.

I'd say the biggest thing you have to adjust for is the attention. I'm sure you get it with the Type-r, but I have so many ppl screaming at me its actually pretty nuts. I have way more people freak out and ask about the Supra than when I drive my GTR. I actually have been dying to drive a type-r im jelly

Coming down to price. Don't pay over sticker, it not worth that. I called literally close to every dealer in the tristate area until I one told me about a premium that just came in and was not even listed. I went over, bashed LE in black, then saw the red, laughed and said "yeah take my money". The car will put a smile on your face EVERYTIME. I

Yeah i definitely need to keep one car in MT to satisfy my needs. So it was either sell the CTR or sell the Z if i end up going with it.
Just didn't feel right to have 2 sports car cause then i wouldn't be able to carry anything if i need to and that would be a hassle to have to borrow cars from friends and stuff.

Yeah, the attention thing was pretty intense. I bought the Type R a month after it came out so people were talking to me at red lights, at parking lots, and everywhere i went. It has since then died down so it's just a matter of time with the supra also i'd assume.

Definitely not paying over sticker. I paid a slight mark up when i got the CTR and learned from that experience that it's just not worth it to pay over sticker. I'm not necessary in a rush to purchase it so i don't mind waiting till i can find one for sticker. Especially since it's going to be my daily driver and going to be driven ~15k miles a year just for work if i only drive one car to work.

Practicality there isn't much trunk space, but I have no idea how much you lug around. My trunks are empty with the exception of my actual daily, Honda Accord. Open that puppy up and you would think i'm Mary Poppins with all the random crap in there.

haha yeah. That's why i think the CTR is the keeper out of the cars i have. I can haul stuff if i need to and still be enjoyable to drive.

not too worried about the interior space as i've previously had a s2000 for like 8 years before i got the Z.

I don't carry stuff on a daily basis and the car is usually empty inside but i do sometimes have to carry stuff for work. If i had the Z and the supra, i don't think i'd be able to carry what i need to lol. I guess on those days i have no choice but to drive the CTR to work.

It seems a lot of people have raved about this car so i can't wait. Going to go test drive the ZF transmission, and go figure out how much carmax would offer for my Z and the ILX, and then start shopping for a supra at sticker. That would also show me just how much i'd be losing by getting rid of the Z.

Most dealers around me has a 30k mark up even on the premium trim so we'll see how much they'd be willing to work with me. If it's too much of a hassle i may just wait till there are more cars around at their lots. Not looking to go through the huge hassle i had to do when i bought the CTR ...

30K MARKUP! Yeah they can go fly a kite! You can always find out of state dealers and just pay shipping cost (1-3k) to you. I have a buddy and they have two a black and a grey (no idea which but I can find out). I'm almost positive it is at sticker so just DM if you want to go down that route.

I live near you in the inland empire, so I feel you with those markups. Join some of the facebook A90 groups because a lot of salesmen have been offering cars at MSRP and nationwide shipping. It would be easiest in your case to buy out of state and pay the 600-1000 shipping price.

yeah it is california. I mean they are still marking up CTRs by like 5k and was like 20k when it first came out lol. It was stupid. Trying not to go through all that hassle again so we shall see how they are.
Good thing is my ILX is paid off and i should have a decent amount of equity on the Z so buying out of state can be an option.

are there any good ones you can recommend to join? I haven't searched and joined any A90 groups.

I'm in a few. I think I saw one for sale earlier today, but I can't seem to find it anymore, sorry. Supra A90 MKV Enthusiasts seems decent so far.

So, I have been following this forum and the reviews and the press releases for a long time now and have also figured out which dealer to get from and all the details. But should I do it? I see people posing all the aftermarket stuff they buy and tuning the ECU and taking it to a track and burning some tires. Frankly, I have never taken a car on track. I love tracks and do a lot of weekend go-karting but never even have taken a car to a track. I don't know how expensive it is and knowing me, I would not spend money to drive a car on a track unless it is very cheap. I love driving and consider myself to be a driving enthusiast and I work in the automobile industry as well. But I don't really plan to take the car onto a track. I don't have the money to do that stuff. I am able to afford the car because I will be financing to buy one and the monthly payments should be fine for me, though it would have been way cheaper to just buy a civic. So my question, if I just daily my supra, and just take out the car to drive on winding roads on weekends, should I buy it? Or is it a car which is only for people who take it on track and burn rubber and can afford to pay for the track and the extra tires and other aftermarket mods?

Do whatever makes you happy and obviously what you can afford. Budget wisely sir. I am a Certified Driving instructor and I bought my Supra to Daily drive and to take the trackdays when I don't feel like hauling my truck/Trailer with race car. LOVE MY SUPRA on the track! its good!

To track your car - $300-400 daily fee from most of the organizations out there
Consumables - Gas/Brake pads/Brake Fluid/Tires, Brake Rotors - $150-600 a day (Depending your skillset)

You don't have to be taking it to the track to enjoy it. You can do shenanigans elsewhere within the bounds of the law. But it you want to test the limits, save up go to a track once a while. If not at least try autocross. My Frs/86 is super agile and fun, haven't tried the Supra. But i don't see why it wouldn't be fun. Those are cheap but quick time trial type individual races.
But obviously, really depends on how much you like the car. If you want to just drive fast there are tons of cheaper used options. Heck 86 + super/turbo will get you the speed

I would probably not track a nice new car that's under warranty and in my position, financed. I would get some spec miata or e30 that's "slow" and beat to shit already.
