Hey all, anyone else having the issue of the AC turning on by itself when it's not supposed to? I have Auto mode off and AC off. In this configuration, the AC will come on and blow cold air every now and then for sometimes only a few minutes but other times an extended amount of time. This happens even when the outside temp is like 60 and inside is set to 70, which is annoying. Funny thing is I've noticed this happening on other newer vehicles too.

With most auto climate control systems, the AC cycles to dehumidify the air, and it can happen at any temperature, not just during cooling season. Unless you have a reason to override AC, you may as well leave it alone. The auto climate control systems don't usually behave predictably when you start overriding functions.

Are you using both keys? Each key can be setup with a different driver profile. That would explain your issues.

Yeah, but why cold air? The AC could be on but blow warmer air to dehumidify. If it's less than 60 outside and I have it set to 70, obviously it's a bit chilly, so I wouldn't want cold AC air blowing to make it even colder inside.

If you Google BMW AC turns on automatically, you'll find multiple threads about it.

Warm air is what fogs the windows, you want cool air hitting the windows so they don't fog

Not really. The AC is what helps take the moisture out of the air. If the AC is on, it'll blow dry air whether the air is warm or cold.
