To be honest with you guys, I don’t even think my A90 will even see 10k miles in its entire lifetime. It’s not a DD and a sorta weekend car at times on short trips. The car just isn’t comfy for long trips or out of town stuff.. I really don’t need a 100k warranty. lol

Well for your use case, I agree that an extended warranty is a waste of money. But there are many people in this forum as well who daily their supra and I plan to do that as well. So That's why I am curious about this extended warranty program. But I did realize that $5k is not a reasonable amount. and there is also the other point of getting a warranty after the factory warranty expires. So I guess I am going to get it only if it costs less than 1000 bucks.

Hey guys need some advice. So when I purchased my car I decided on going with the extended warranty mainly cause the car was a new model and basically a BMW. I wasn’t sure on what to expect reliability wise so I went the safe route. However, after owning the car for about a year and getting use to what it can do I’ve been looking into increasing hp. Now I mainly want to go straight into downpipe, pure turbo, exhaust and tune. Nothing with meth just 93 for daily.

My dilemma is should I go about this performance route and void my warranty or keep with it due to unknown reliability this car might have?

And this is why you don't buy extended warranties till the factory one runs out lol.

Here's the thing, you keep it stock it'll run for a long ass time as long as you keep up with maintenance.
You start adding mods, boost, tunes, you lose your warranty, but you'll also shorten the lifespan of the engine. If the tune isn't done right, really goddamn short lol. It's a double edged sword. Ask yourself if you can afford to pay cash for a new engine. If the answer is no, leave it alone. Because although it will PROBABLY be fine, there's always a chance it won't be.

Tune it man! It is such a different beast. So far with my tune and DP it has been reliable without hiccups. I am also running 11’s on the 1/4 mile with stock tires/full interior/no meth or nitrous. I know of many A90’s owners running tunes for extended periods without problems. I even have friends running tunes on their 340is for 40k plus miles, no issues. I understand the feeling of wanting more after driving it! I also understand the warranty dilemma. But heres the thing, it is your car and you do whatever you want to it! If everyone left the MKIV stock, it would of never become the legend that it is today!

Ahhh, I’ll just go the safe route. Probably shouldn’t haven’t gotten the extended. Damn, going to have to swallow this one.

Shoot, I’m starting to think it’s you guys that’s to blame. All these threads in tunes and performance upgrades. Might have to stay off the forum to keep self control lol.

Do other things. When mine comes in I'm not touching the drivetrain. I'm doing cosmetic stuff. A catback, spacers for the wheels, or a new set, some springs, tint, maybe some footwell lighting, and that's probably gonna be it.

I don't think 500whp with a Pure on pump gas is pushing it.. Most are running 600whp+ so it should be reliable if tuned right

Well worth the extra 150whp over stock ;) Lets you slot into high performance car territory too

Car will need extra care off course

i agree with you. Car is perfect as it is with just minor additions needed. Don’t really want to void a warranty on a newly released vehicle. We honestly don’t know how these mods will affect dependability of these cars yet in the long run.

ON 99% of those extended warranties you can walk in to dealer and if you have not used the extended warranty they will have to refund it. I did it in when they suckered me in 2008 after I had already sold car, got 100% back and I did it to my now wifes car when they suckered her into every extended warranty and got 100% her money back

We're able to flash the car with a tune not change the flash counter. Picking up 50-60whp/150-160wtq through EcuTek.

Let me know if I can assist or if you have any questions. Happy to help!

Uh huh :rolleyes1: and does that tune come with a letter saying that IF Toyota flags the car, you'll pick up the tab for any and all would be warranty work for the first 5 years, 60k miles?

This is something that we do guarantee and will stand behind. Cover any damages to the vehicle if that were to happen. :)
