I saw a dealer video in which the dealer was describing why they are most qualified to service the 2020 Supra. In addition to special training, tools, etc., he mentioned that they have a special lift needed for the Supra. Is there any truth to his claim? Did he mean some special kind of lift adapter? Or was he just blowing smoke?

probably requires adapters just like a lot of modern cars; all the lifts I've seen it on look ordinary (unless they're doing it wrong)

One dealer told me they had to have a special lift installed for the Supra. I’m guess it’s true since none of the underpinnings are like a regular Toyota.

There are requirements for the lift. Most new lifts were approved to use on the Supra, some had to have adapters to be acceptable, some older lifts can not be used even with adapters.

There ya go, same as when the GTR and other more modern cars were released.

These dealers are probably just using lifts from the 90s lol...

Is it the same as BMW?

If so, throw one of these on your floor jack and you now have the, “special lift.”

Hockey pucks work too.

The list of "approved" lifts that qualify is pretty long.......many just need adapter kit and a couple are fine as is, and as many BMW techs do they just add the above pucks onto non qualified lift pads to make them work

All BS about special lifts. They may need some adapter that sticks up to the receptor in the undercarriage to prevent damage, but that's about it. Most mechanics in the dealership don't give a shit about damaging your pinch weld.

Having worked in auto repair shops, this worries me a little, cause you're right. Out of sight, out of mind, and no customer comes back because you creased the pinch weld with the lift.

I'm ordering a pair of those jack pads for when I put my snows on, and I guess I'll have to be a bit particular with the dealer's service department when I bring the car in for service.
