Apple CarPlay Intermittent Audio Drops

I have had my car since Jan 2020. For the first couple of months the audio through CP worked without issues. Now randomly the audio from Apple Music will play songs fine for about a minute, then drop for a second, then come back for a minutes or and repeat. CarPlay does not disconnect because I am can Google maps and other apps connected fine. I cannot determine what the cause is. I cannot turn off wireless on my iPhone and reconnect, but the issue continues. If I turn the car off it will usually go away. Any ideas what could be the cause?

Do you keep the phone in the wireless charging spot? I found that it heats up the phones a lot and that coursed the audio issues sometimes.

I do, but I have not noticed my iPhone getting hot at all; even for long drive. The CP audio drops could happen when I first start driving, so I doubt it is heat related.

Have you tried restarting your iPhone?

Yes, but it did not fix the issue. Seems to be on the vehicle/infortainement side, not the iPhone.

If you are streaming, how is your signal strength?

It could be network congestion as tower loads have changed with everything going on. The amount of data a stream uses is significantly more than google maps.

If your playing from the phone and not a stream, sounds like a trip to Toyota may be in order.

I do not stream. I’m playing audio that is saved on my iPhone when the audio drops for a second about every 1-2 minutes. It does not happen every time I drive the car while listening to audio this way.

Frankly I had this problem in my JCW after I got my 11Pro, lots of people had problems with BMW wireless CP. It was finally fixed for me on the last big update 13.3 I think. I am very surprised you are having this. Have tried deleting your phone and repairing? BT is funky at times.

Literally having this problem now. 2023 3.0 P model. Had my cluster replaced bc the dealer fucked it and they had to get a special 1 off update and now I’m having this issue

I am having this issue as well, it sucks, super maddening. I think its Iphone related not car...
