Although I am a HUGE Nissan and Z fan (owned quite a few Z’s actually)....a ~$45k Twin Turbo Z making 400hp with that modern of an interior, all while being built in Japan....something’s gotta give. Let’s hope the reliability/durability department isn’t “defunded” with this new management like Ghosn’s management did.

I've always preferred the Z cars to the Supra through the 80s and 90s.

I've had a 350 and a 370. Loved them both. It's definitely the other way around today. However, an actual production model may change my mind about this newest version...

If it's anything like the rivalry of the 90's, 45K sounds about right compared to the MKV Supra. The Z Proto looks like it's offered with a simplified trim; cloth/vinyl seats.

I don’t think the Z’s interior will match the MKV’s, but if it does....it won’t cost $45k. If they make a base model with cloth seats and 350Z plastics, them maybe. To rival the MKV (overall), the new Z will not only need to have the muscle under the hood, it will need a proper interior. For $45k, I truly believe that can’t happen nowadays....especially from Japan.

I’ve been wrong before.

I dont think the nismo 370z is a good judge of pricing. Not only is it incredibly overpriced ($12k more than the 370z sport with very little increase in performance) there will more than likely be several trims, packages, and options.

I still think it will be cheaper than $39.5, which is the Q60 MSRP $41k minus the additional $1500 Nissan charges for auto 370z's over 6mt models

Based of the interior alone and the exterior blandness, it's going with a more lower cost approach. The interior looks a lot better then the MKV making the MKV look like a second thought and not well thought out design.

The Z Proto
-The dash has a nice form and flow to it.
-The infosystem is actually integrated into the center dash and not plopped on the top of the dash like most cars
-The center console has both driver and passenger knee pads symmetrically placed
-The 3 gauge pods are strategically placed like the old 240z yet aimed towards the driver
-Nice sporty concave 3 spoke steering wheel with controls
-Muffhucking 6... speed... manual transmission to row with a nice round cue ball type shiftknob!!

I see a lot of similar plastics, cloth vinyl trim as other Nissan models. Z's have been priced lower then Supras. I think the main issue would be ADM when they hit the dealerships.

Keep in mind, this Z is still in “proto” stage. Alot can change...not necessarily in a positive direction. Just sayin.

Better then concept stage. ;)

I really hope they massage the front to look like this. Huge homage to the 240Z with the cup headlights, the drop down hoodline, the colormatched roof and no chrome trim nonsense. Add a rear wiper and ducktail the hatch a little more.

This shit right here... :drive:

That is a beautiful rendering! Honestly, if Nissan can pull this off under $50k, they should consider doing the same with the GTR. Make a $75k GTR without all the fancy interior stuff. Would sell like hotcakes.

Then it's not a GTR. It'll can only go up from there, not down; like the V Spec, M Spec, Nur Spec, NISMO R34's. Anything less would be GT, GT-X, GT-T's which is currently on V35/V36 level.
