Captain_Kirk posted a video by a Youtuber (Matt Maran) saying a spy photographer reported BMW is planning on keeping the higher variant B58.
Now that would be ideal. Along with a manual option of course.
I guess it could make sense given that BMW supposedly has said the Z4 will not be sharing the higher output engine (382HP version) with the Supra. So maybe they will both have the revised B58 as a base entry level 340-350 HP, and...
If that is the case I say they bump up the power to go over 400HP even if its 405-415 stock. One of the biggest knocks on the 86 is that it is underpowered from the factory. If they want to sell it for double the price of the 86, why not offer double the power? (here in the US at least)...
This Z4 is to be in a superior class than its predecessors. A big change for the Z4. The MKV Supra should be a better car than the MKIV but will it make as a big leap like we're seeing with the Z4???
The 86/BRZ are identical twins (minus the front bumper/headlights slightly) while the Z4/Supra...
'While the car was mostly designed by BMW, with both cars using the same BMW-sourced engines, gearboxes and technology.'
'A lot of enthusiasts, mainly Toyota’s, are sort of upset at the fact that both cars are so similar, sharing even basic interior bits, mostly borrowed from BMW'
well we...
What I'm about to say is all based on speculation the rumors suggest is coming:
The truth is; there's a pill Toyota is giving us to swallow with this car and that is 'at least the Supra name is coming back into line up'. I'm not an insider so I don't know what goes on inside their chain of...
I ran into this car talk video regarding the new Supra. It's a little lengthy but they have a few interesting points especially when talking price at the 5:30+ mark.
Sounds like we are still a whole year away before test drives can be experienced. So about 2-3 years away for those who are going to wait for the mark ups to go away + all the kinks to be worked out from the first year model. The only thing to do is be MORE patient while being teased. Because...
A mid engine (possibly inline 6) would have been pretty cool. Now I'm really hoping this Supra is not a let down. Because if not we'll be left wondering what if they would've gone that route...
@A70TTR - What led this car to receive the Supra badge? Akio, Tada, or Board of Directors, a combo of all? (Besides the inline 6 + RWD)
Was it more of business led decision aka $$$ or was it purely the outcome of the car deserving it?
If you can't answer all of it I understand but I'm really...
It seems like they are marketing this car a lot harder over in Europe than anywhere else. I guess since they know the car won't be about 'numbers' and will be more about 'feel'; bringing it to America may only be done for the debut so it doesn't get bashed as it sounds like the numbers won't...
IDK about BMW giving Toyota the S58 to throw into the new Supra or even a revised version of it. It'll possibly be the best I6 BMW has to offer. Giving it to a competitor to put in a lighter more rigid chassis for less $$$ compared to it's M2, M3, and M4 could hurt them. But then again that...
^ I think you may be right. It looks like its a strip to connect with the top portion of the door strip. All that could change by them replacing the lower side skirt and integrating a vent + putting a functional vent scoop on the door.
I think they'll make the front/rear bumpers + front fenders...
Well pre-orders are starting in 8 days. IDK it just seems like they still aren't ready to release info. for whatever reason. They are happy to announce when the car will be available which is sometime middle of next year but don't want to tell or show what this car is all about. Either they are...
This.
So they expect pre-orders on a car with no specs, no price, no interior information, and not even 100% sure what the exterior is going to look like?!? Come on Toyota, this is just getting ridiculous.
They start speaking English at the12:35 min. mark, but start getting into the car review at 14:36+ min mark for those of you that just want to hear what they say.
The driver also hints there's something 'more' coming in terms of a possible bigger car. I wonder if just maybe this could be in the...
I'm not too sure if I believe that either. 4 years with no involvement with each other? Like Jdmuscle mentioned, then please explain the countless spy shots we've seen of the two cars running around together driven by BMW drivers for the past few years?
Also, if they are both using the 'same...
