Yup sort of an investment plan for some only to flip it for profit later on which does suck for those who have to wait and possibly pay more since they couldn't get their hands on it when released.
From all the rumors so far on what's to be of this car, it seems like being built at a BMW plant is most likely since they will be providing most resources and building it.
^ that's crazy. So far nothing but great things have been said about the GT4 in reviews. It has caught my interest. Depending on what comes out of the FT-1 once it's all said and done, I may pick one of these up used in a few yrs.
^ I agree. For all we know BMW may just be supplying just the block and Toyota will supply the rest. Or it may be an M4 engine and Toyota may tweek a few things to make it better and more reliable. This can help BMW as well learning what the Japenese can do/change to make their engine more...
^ Toyota styled the car and helped with the engineering of the car. The car chasis and motor was provided by Subaru. Toyota provided their D4S Direct Injection for the engine. I believe the car is built by Subaru at a Subaru plant as well.
^ There's an article where a Toyota exec confirms the GT86 will be its own car and this upcoming car with BMW will sit above it.

So it sounds like we're getting an M4 in a different suit (I can hear the Bimmer fan boys comments when seeing this car). If all is true, I'm kind of dissapointed with Toyota. I guess we'll have to wait 2 more years to see.
To me at the end it sounds like this platform may be used for the LF-LC...
^ I think it may save a few bucks but not 100% sure, maybe save on destination fee's?
But to me this is also another clue as to why they might be sharing an engine/drive train
“The concept works, the platform can deliver and now we have two proud sets of engineers - one group German, one group...
Well the People from Toyota that have mentioned Supra with this car to slot above the GT86 have only confirmed that Supra is one name being considered for this upcoming car among others that have not been mentioned. So most call it Supra already but there has been no official word yet from...
I'm surprised at the price as well. I understand the whole heritage behind the GT but $397k for a Ford super car is insane. Pretty sure Ford has noticed what people have been willing to pay for the previous models, so hey why not sell a new generation for around the same price and make extra...
Cars being released sometime in 2017 means a 2018 production model. So if everything is correct, we are 2 yrs away from seeing what it looks like and 2.5-3yrs before anyone can own/drive one. That is a long wait.
The photoshop is not the greatest. I'm just thinking it resembles more in line of what could shape the front end. Besides sources have said that the next Supra successor would come from influences from the FT-1, rather than the FT-1 being the concept for the next successor. Again just my...
