Not sure if anyone mentioned this but seeing BMW use that engine (B58) in multiple vehicles makes me believe it would be possible in the far future to "upgrade" (Engine swap) to an M engine like an S58 or even a V8 with minor modification. At least it would be easier and might reuse parts...
My V8 swapped 86 is using the stock transmission with a twin disk FX725. It is considerably worse getting it moving from a stop than the previous organic clutch I had. 1st gear is practically useless even with a taller 3.73 rear end. At least it holds the power. I have daily driven that thing...
They do this to keep the car relevant through its production lifetime. I've read this here on this forum. If you release everything within a year, no body will talk about it two or three years later which will hurt sales on the long run. The release of these "new versions" boosts sales of the...
I actually meant the J160/AZ6 transmission that comes in the 86 and previously in the RX-8, MX-5 and IS/Altezza. It's a great transmission but it turns into glass at anything close to 350TQ. The ZF is definitely superior, but my point was a manual transmission loses it's firmness and drivability...
This.
I daily drove my 86 and once you start modding it the manual becomes a chore. Adding a turbo and 100hp to that car made the stock clutch slip and once you go aftermarket with your clutch it's never the same again. You have to break it in, adjust the pedal, deal with the crickets and...
Not according to Toyota, they met with Supra owners and apparently they only cared about a turbo inline 6 and nothing else lol.
Everyone of those owners wanted a manual transmission with their inline 6 turbo engine, they just didn't think they had to spell it out to Toyota.
It feels like one...
I honestly would never consider a Cayman even if it was 10K cheaper than a similarly equipped MKV. It's a flawed logic I know and even if Porsche had a good dealership where I'm at (which they don't) I would just never consider buying one and I'm sure I'm not the only one who prefers a Toyota or...
Something that hasn't been pointed out is if you count the markings on the analog gauge its actually pointing just above 6000 RPM and the redline is below 7000. It just doesn't add up.
That's the only thing that concerns me. Everything about this car is exactly what I'm looking for and I would have gotten the auto even if a manual was offered. After the reviews of how it's actually more of a great street cruiser that's good on the track than the other way around I'm liking it...
