Road and track are looking too deep into this. They might have different part numbers, doesn't mean they are different in anyway other than just that, a number. If anything, the internals in the MKV engine might actually be superior to meet Toyota's reliability not the other way around. You...
A quick google search shows that BMW uses "overboost" to add low end torque between shifts to keep the power curve smooth or something. Explains why the guy was talking about it activating at certain throttle positions. You can't just push a button and have more boost/power. I've also read that...
I never owned a BMW so I don't know what iDrive is other than what I read on this forum. If I would guess it's the Software? but from your post it sounds like the infotainment and iDrive are different so now I'm even more confused. If you're talking about the knob next to the shifter, almost...
I know they're not identical frame and body wise but they share everything else. 3UR 5.7L V8, AB60 6 speed transmission, Same transfer case (Sequoia is actually superior), same front and rear diff, same axle setup, same bolt pattern, same control arms and the best part it's 20-30K cheaper than...
Toyota made an extended Land Cruiser, the Sequoia. Sadly, it didn't even get the facelift with the Tundra in 2014. Looking forward on how it goes when they release the gen 3 (4?) Tundra, one of the best trucks I daily drove back in 2009. Anyone has any input on what new engine the trucks will...
I say it depends on how customizable the ECU is. The Denso ECU Toyota uses is extremely restrictive even after cracking it open. Some parameters can't even be changed or at least no one has figured out how. Sure you can adjust fueling and timing along with shift points but that's pretty much it...
S58 is what you're looking for unless BMW doesn't want to share it's latest and greatest with Toyota then maybe just the relatively older S55. Worst case (or best case if you got the 2020 MY) is a B58 with a little more boost.
I read on some BMW forums that the M340i with the "same" B58 as the Supra adjusts boost to keep the power out put consistent. Some report their stock cars make 11-12 psi while others 15-16 psi depending on the weather and altitude. I like this idea especially if the engine is capable of handling...
I disagree, the US will not get the 4 cylinder models. Initially anyway. This making the GR A90 equivalent to the NA. The 4 cylinder by all means is an 86 replacement or the equivalent of a Celica in the 90s. That's how I look at it.
Price wise, as shown in the table above, the NA A80 is still...
True, everyone is comparing the GR MKV to the TT MKIV instead of the NA one knowing full well a GRMN MKV is coming in the near future.
Doesn't seem too bad now, does it?
You guys are lucky. I called the dealership here in the UAE and they had no idea what I'm talking about. The guy on the phone went to ask a sales specialist and when he got back he told me they don't have a Supra anymore and to get it's replacement, the 86. I hung up.
First, it's the 2UR. The AA80E is old (first 8 speed ever if I remember correctly), but statistically it has no reliability issues at all and it shifts pretty quick for it's age. Not crap by any means. The direct shift 10 speed in the LC is no slouch either.
The only issue with the 2UR is that...
I don't think it's a gap per se. More like an accent of the exterior color on the inside. That or they made a major design miscalculation and just went along with it lol.
Speaking of turbos, even the upcoming Land Cruiser/LX570 are rumored to get the V35A or a variant of it. Being it's their flagship SUV I doubt they will compromise on reliability. These things sell like hotcakes here and any major problems will be a disaster for the company's reputation.
These two different sources are contradicting each other directly unless I'm missing something. The only way to make sense of this is by saying:
1. The US spec Z4 has the O1 engine without the integrated manifold and without the particulate filter making 382hp.
2. The EU spec Z4 and both EU and...
Remember the Goodwood event A90 that didn't have the integrated manifold? Was that completely scraped off? Also this was posted on another thread before and basically says the O1 is superior to the M1.
Until BMW sheds some light on us, all the conflicting information and leaks on the internet...
