From my understanding, O1 is without the filter and M1 is with the filter. (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_B58)
If the Supra is getting the M1 only regardless of where it's being shipped, that explains the 335hp. (Contradicts what's on Wiki which isn't reliable anyway)
But if it...
Maybe they don't want to cannibalize the 86 or wait until its end of production before bringing over the 4 banger? Subaru is not going to like that one bit.
Are we sure BMW underrates their engines or they simply dyno them in a "worst case scenario" such as high elevation? So no matter where it is in the world (or maybe Germany with it's highest elevation at over 9000ft) it would still make at least 335CHP.
^ I disagree. The supra didn't get a manual transmission because the Z4 didn't. You're overthinking it.
But should you swap out the auto for a manual on your own? No, unless money is not a factor and you're down spending +100k on R&D to get everything working as if it came from factory.
I...
This is what I want to know. If we can get a confirmation the B58 will stick with the A90 forever or at least the next 5 years, I will book one at my dealership today. But if it gets a new powertrain in the next 2-3 years, I can gladly wait.
I don't mind minor upgrades across model years as...
This makes the most sense, true. I was basing my assumption on the leak with 425hp and 406tq. I still don't see how one would upgrade to a new engine or how Toyota is involved with it since it's rumored the GRMN would be built at Motomachi and the S58 is purely a BMW engine shared across 4 other...
I like this, but with the recent leak in that other thread about the GRMN getting M4 specs, not sure how one would upgrade his first model year's B58 to an S55...
425HP and 56.1kgm (406ft.lbs TQ) are identical to the M4 F82 specs... Doesn't seem Toyota was involved at all in that case. However, the M4 does have a 6 speed manual transmission option available.
I for one hate Porsche interiors. Looks like something from the mid 2000s and extremely boring. Wouldn't mind it for a weekend rental but definitely not a daily.
Looking at it from between the seats won't be the same as when you're in the driver seat. If people are that OCD, their rear view mirrors would be useless.
I'm confident he won't answer this question because it will potentially lower sales of the base model if the "alpha" car is much superior, but should we expect major engine changes (internal) in future higher performance models or is it going to remain with the same base engine just with minor...
I didn't think I'd have to spell it out but no, that's not what I meant at all. The superchargers were an extreme example where Toyota offered +$5,000 parts to increase performance that are commonly known to hurt reliability while keeping it under warranty.
The Tacoma and Tundra TRD...
The very same company in question here has released countless TRD superchargers that are covered under warranty after installation. Why couldn't this be applied here on the A90?
TRD at this very moment offers mods for the 86 and other vehicles that won't void the warranty.
This is all wishful thinking but since the low power output has been announced, I've been thinking "when was the last time Toyota offered a Turbocharged sports car?"
Since the demise of the MKIV, Toyota's performance division (TRD) has been in the business of supercharging their cars left and...
If the MKV and it's engine prove to be a success, swapping out the head with the integrated manifold for the "standard" one would be the 1.5JZ of this generation.
The aftermarket might have some options available as well but it all depends how robust these B58s prove to be under a lot of boost...
The first picture posted on this forum did have a watermark though. I downloaded it as soon as it was posted from the OP. meh who cares anyway. :dunno:
