Agree. If the first US Gazoo car is 3000lbs, 450 hp, and amazing to drive then people will eventually worship the Great Gazoo. However, if its 3500 lbs, 330 hp, and still $60k, it'll flop into Pontiac Aztek flop zone.
I decided to stop waiting and recently purchased an M2, I love it. But like most fun cars I've owned I will always be looking at what is next. Yes, I can afford the new Supra, but like most here I will want to see the final product before saying I would buy it. If the power to weight ratio is...
^ FYI... and for Toyota in case they are reading this, the main reason I'm not holding out for the Supra even though I've owned mostly Toyota/Lexus cars is the lack of a manual and the lack of a back seat. I'd be happy with a back seat the size of the 86/FRS/BRZ, but having a young child I need...
Well, I just purchased a BMW M2. Best car out there right now for $50k in my opinion. Dealers are starting to make deals on the 2018s before they switch to the S55 M2 Competitions for 2019. There are some used ones going for low 40s now too.
6mt of course.
I will still be on the...
The poll asks, "Would you consider a single trim, 350hp, 3300lbs/1500kg luxury A90 Supra?" It doesn't mention price.
Yes, I would, for $40k.
Would more trims be nice, yes.
Would I buy that trim at $60k, hell no.
I forget about the Q60 Red Sport, 400hp for $52k, yes it weighs 3800lbs but that's pretty decent for a luxury car. Cheaper than the RCF at 467hp, 3900 lbs, starting at $63k. I just don't see how the supra justifies an MSRP north of $50k unless its 400hp or high 300's and keeps the weight close...
:hmm: Maybe not a bad idea... or I could do something similar with my completely stock S2000.
Yes, I've driven both. The RCF is the 'reliable/luxury' option and I like the idea of having the high revving V8; the M2 is the 'fun/manual' option. They are different cars for sure. Either way I'm...
Wow.
Thanks Guff for sharing, but this is terrible news.
Like someone else said, those specs are a $40k car, not a $60k car. I think I'm out of this supra waiting game.
The BMW M2 is looking better and better... a used RCF is looking better and better... Its time to upgrade my daily driver...
I believe you, but don't understand how it can be that low if the Z4 weighs in at 3,384. What is so different about the supra to cut 300 lbs?
Or are you saying the quoted 3,384 for the BMW is incorrect?
Look at the BMW M2. It starts at $54k US, 365hp, ~3400 lbs, and 0-60 in 4.1.
The Supra should use a similar engine with newer tech and should be 3-400lbs lighter. This could easily be a 380hp car, ~3000 lbs, 0-60 in 4.0, for $50k. It just depends on the final specs and pricing Toyota...
Very true. Starting with the N54 (in 2007 or so) then the N55, now S55, B58, S58, these have proven to be pretty reliable engines and can be easily modded. Each engine was better than the one before it and now Toyota has sprinkled it with JDM Unicorn Dust, I'm ok with the BMW/Supra idea.
Why are the hardtops so much better? Just because of issues with the targa?
I love the idea of a targa, you get convertible-like openness but retain a coupes lines, best of both worlds in my opinion.
Being a turbo (easy to modify) it doesn't really matter if its 360hp vs 390 vs 405, the engine potential is what most Supra fans will care about. But to the average 'merican, 400 hp is a lot sexier than 390 hp.
I have faith, but its hard for all three of the following to be true; under...
I also hope the sales show a manual is wanted by many; however, there will be a good amount of people who would prefer the manual but will buy the auto before the manual is available, skewing the numbers a bit. I am the type that will wait for the manual but not all will wait.
One of my good...
I know others have hinted about no na 6, but if this car is as light as some think it'll be (~3000lbs) then a 330-360 hp na I6 would be an excellent engine for someone like me who doesn't plan on modding the car much. My old 911 was 345hp and 3200 lbs, plenty fast and nimble. A Camry now has...
While we are all hoping for big hp numbers, I'd be ok with an NA option, what would essentially be an 86 with 300+ hp from an NA 6. As long as the weight really is 3000 lb or less, that would likely be an incredible car!
I understand I might be the minority on this forum, but I might buy the...
