LOL, that paranoia about the seat is real! Read too many stories of people's seats getting ripped out and insurance couldn't replace them and cars having salvage titles because of that.
If I remember correctly, hardtops were also stupid expensive too. I loved that car, but I'm glad I moved on.
I’m the same way, owned a S2000 for many years and running a convertible in Seattle just wore on me.
For the 2 weeks of perfect weather, you have to deal with heat, cold, rain, noise, you name it. Also was in constant fear of the potential of people slashing my top to steal the seats, smh
Ohh, that hood vent looks great! Where did you get those?
I didn’t do any tint on the windshield. Normally I would do a windshield banner, but the roofline on the car is so low, I’m going to leave it for now.
Technically 20% is already too dark (~24% is legal) in WA state, but we can get...
I think the idea is to keep building the layers up to make it thicker and easier to peel.
I ended up saving the last half can for touchups, which I’m glad I did. I had to go back to some of the rim edges that I missed somehow!
Did you have any trouble spraying the Hyperdip with the wheels lying flat? I started this way, but I found the cans were sputtering more than I liked, so I ended up leaning the wheels against a wall and finished up. Then I found the note from DipYourCar saying not to spray the wheels lying...
I have the front half (hood, fenders, bumper, etc.) to protect against the normal road debris scenario. This was one of those "mandatory" things I had to buy from the dealer, but that being said, I'm happy for the piece of mind against rock chips.
Thanks! I had a couple of minor drips, but overall it’s pretty easy to do. I wanted to get it done before the weather got colder and messes with the drying time. We’ll see how it holds up.
Mine is a 2022 Premium. It was also on a QC hold for about 2, almost 3 weeks. Just got delivered on Friday, so PDi done and then straight to the PPF shop today. Just for reference, here's what my timeframe looked like:
6/09 - Build complete
7/01 - Vessel Depart
7/31 - Vessel Arrive
8/12 -...
Not 100% sure, but I believe this is where all of the port installed options go on the car (CF mirror caps, wheel locks, etc) as well as some quality control checks are done. At least for me, this was also the part where my car got stuck at the port, seemingly just sitting for weeks.
