Ok focusing on just the engine. Toyota didn’t have that many changes made. Yes it’s closed deck but there are still many many issues reported across forums of B58 coolant loss and turbo failure. If Toyota improved the manifold design then well done to them but I doubt it’s solved every...
They don’t. Most people simply don’t want to list every single reason, every single time. At the end of the day the core reason it sucks is because of this relationship. If they never had this relationship then we’d either have something closer to the FT1 or no new supra at all. Both are better...
Fair comment but if you put the steering wheel on the other side then it would be the same. Mirroring the interior really is more than resemblance.
The interior on the MK3 being flat is also a fair comment but it really is a great looking one
Totally agree, it’s so obvious I can’t believe some few can’t see it. Even the X5 is virtually the same.
What’s hilarious is the camry has a better interior than any of these BMWs
Ignore colour and the ft1 and new “supra” are nothing alike. The red is simply an illusion.
Now compare the 3 series with the new supra and lo and behold they are virtually the same
You can’t seriously consider that dash to be a slingshot? They put some red highlights on it otherwise it’s ripped straight out of a BMW.
The “slingshot” architecture of the Ft1 definitely looks closer to the MK3 and MK4 than it does the MK5
Even the new corvette has a nicer and more “supra” interior than the new supra.
I doubt if they’d been given the freedom of doing work within Lexus/Toyota that they’d have gone with an interior ripped straight out of a 3 series
Nissan managed the GTR and their only performance showcase was the Skyline GTR and they went a completely different direction with the power plant and nailed it. That’s a super car and it went to that from the skyline. Toyota could have done the same surely?
I wanted to see a Toyota built sports car for the following reasons:
Toyota could afford the development. They made $23 billion in profit last financial year. They could afford the development costs.
Although this brings me onto point 2. That they didn’t need to develop anything new. A supra...
Tetsuya Tada is the chief engineer....
Reputation is very important in Japanese culture regardless of retirement..
Your references are nearly all interviews with him...
No other source.
I think people are missing the point as to why the Mk5 is a disappointment. Especially when compared to the Mk4
First of all the argument that it’s quicker is a moot point. Of course it would be after 25+ years. the fact it’s so little improved is the real issue.
Second people mention price...
Like the quality of the video. Very much so but I’ll be honest it’s very reliant on the word of one man (all your sources I believe stem from him). That man being Tada. He is going to say whatever it takes seeing as his career rests on the outcome of this car.
Personally I feel even if Toyota...
Been following the forum for a while and you were it’s biggest critic for a long time. Interesting to see a complete flip flop but you’re so vocal against mkiv owners. Truth is mkiv owners like itself have nothing to fear. The cars will increase in value.
Are you one of the people who sold...
First, I’d like to say greetings as I’m new to the forum. Long term stalker however! Lots of interesting theories and information on this forum. I look forward to the many debates to my answers as you’ll soon find out!
1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the...
