It's the same driver setting the times that year, but it has changed year to year. The rules are that it can't have any options that aren't offered by the manufacturer, so no upgrading tires, brakes, etc, with aftermarket stuff.
If I was rich rich I wouldn't be picking either. I'd be in either a Porsche 911 or a Lotus Emira. If reliability is your main concern probably going older tech is likely the best idea. Maybe an E46 M3 or same gen M5.
The gold standard for me will always be the Car and Driver yearly Lightning Lap times. I've never found that R&T were the best when it comes to modern car reviews. Motorsports, classics, etc, they are good at, but new car reviews, not their forte.
I guess there was bound to be a review that picks the M2 over the Supra. I'm fine with that, but the lack of actual lap times is a bit worrying. Would be one thing to say it was easier to set the quickest time, or it's more consistent, or that it "feels" faster, but at least post the lap...
Okay, if it’s not just the length, how about the fact that one is a luxury brand and the other is a mainstream brand and you need to have some differences to justify the price gap between the two.
The LC is 2 row and the GX is 3 row. It’s smaller, it’s MUCH smaller than the previous LC. If you want to prove me wrong, go look at the dimensions of the two. Loads of cars have the same platform, like the GTI and Atlas.
Think of it like the difference between the two highlander models.
Makes me excited for the next gen 4Runner. As for the comment about the V6 from the Lexus GX, this LC is actually smaller and that’s why they fit a smaller engine in it.
Yeah I feel that in order to get the full enjoyment of the 86/BRZ you really need to track it, which unfortunately is not easy where I live as the closest track is a days drive away.
I felt that both generations are 100% sports car, so very single minded. Cars nowadays wear many hats, from...
City speeds? Yeah that's not really the engagement that I'm looking for, heck my Civic Si is likely just as engaging as both vehicles in city.
NVH? Man I drove the previous generation BRZ and the new gen BRZ this past week, neither has NVH that I would enjoy. Buzzy, agriculture engines...
That's the beauty of modern turbo vehicles, they have torque early and turbo lag is mitigated a lot over the past decade or so. But I don't really give a beans about around town, I care more about back road driving on deserted twisty roads.
Do you think that your notion of the 86 being more engaging was due to how much more you have to shift and managing that dead spot in the powerband? The Supra seems to have power everywhere so less managing of powerband plus of course by the time you are shifting into 3rd in the Supra you are...
Finally got a chance to drive a Supra, this one being a 2021 model year. While the majority of the impressions were positive, it took me a bit after the fact to assess my true feelings.
So on the route I take on my test drives I do a half hour loop that includes highway, city, and back road...
Wasn't the worst race for sure. But it was a shame that Oscar and Carlos tangled in that first corner. Was definitely Carlos fault, but I think he was trying to avoid running into the back of the guys in front and wasn't aware that Oscar was beside him. By no means do I think it was...
Really easy for Horner to keep that car from breaking down, they typically don’t have to turn the engine up all the way and the racers don’t have to push the mechanical limits. A perfect example is Max car already used up all his gearbox’s, that would not be the case if the pack was close and...
Obviously we don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but I'm quite surprised on the timing of this. Do they expect improvements to happen in the second half by letting both of these guys go?
I do understand that ownership is upset about Aston and McLaren passing them this season, but...
