It’s not exactly a BMW B58 engine. Just around 90% BMW stamp, BMW stuff, Germany marking spotted. Prepare to see more and more BMW. After all, this Supra is made by BMW, and they will make it the Ultimate Driving Machine.:drive:
I believe there’s a hole somewhere there. Just don’t know where exactly. Tada himself confirmed it that the vent would be functional in the production version. I don’t expect everything I see in a prototype version to be in a production version. From concept, to prototype, to production car.
Seems like Toyota is still hiding something. Look closer and you’ll notice that there might be some holes on top of the headlight just covered by plastic and rubber.
Most old cars used to have manual. Most modern cars now have automatic transmission. Even the high end cars, most of their offering are in AT. Only a few manufacturers offer MT on their high end sports cars like BMW, and Porsche. AT has become faster and more efficient than MT. Of course there...
IMO, that’s why Toyota brought back Tada-san out of retirement to guide the Supra project. It will be Tada-san who will be able to make all these differences. I don’t really care much about BMW’s new Z4, but I believe it will improve in all aspects as well. Supra, on the other hand, will be a...
What then should they call the car if not Supra?
Supra sounds amazing since it lives up to expectation like with I6 and RWD. For sure there are some modifications like it will now be a 2-seater instead of a 2+2, and partnering with BMW; but the winning formulas are still there.
I noticed that, lately, Toyota is aggressive into doing tie-ups, just like with:
BMW - Toyota Supra / BMW Z4
Mazda - Toyota Yaris
Subaru - Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ
And soon a tie-up again with Mazda to produce a sports car.
For me, it’s a positive sign of good things to come. Toyota is getting...
I just wonder what would it be like had Toyota decided to partner with Subaru and not BMW, and produce a H6 for the Supra instead of I6. Handling would most likely be superb and finesse. Boxer power is also more of an airplane thing. So I believe, if this happens, it would have the lowest center...
For sure they will get a lot of trim levels in Japan. Engine options, I guess they’ll have the 2.0-liter I4, 3.0-liter I6, and a hybrid. Possibly a GRMN version too.
Yes, an 86 without those bulky seats, heavy head unit, and other stuff that make the car heavier. You’re basically just buting the car; not the whole package and stuff.
Yes, same engine and transmission, a 6MT, and a 6AT. Just trim levels like they add options for different color of interior, special seats, head unit, Brembo brakes, wing, spoiler, stiffer springs, etc.
