Left (new supra) will be faster but will break down due to BMW parts.
If Toyota will be modifying the engine and components one way or the other, I believe it will still have bulletproof reliability. Or else Toyota would just destroy their image and reputation with their new halo car. Toyota would be wise enough just to take advantage of BMW’s I6 engine layout and other bits, and apply their secret formulas into it.

Remember that people are primarily buying Toyotas because of their reliability and low cost of ownership. Good performance and sportiness is just a BONUS!:D

I appreciate that, Chikane, but it's no worries :)

My position with the A90 was the same one it is with Lexus and that is an engineering liason (at least on paper). In reality, I may do something quite a bit different, but I cannot elaborate further.

:respect: In the mean time, we can just speculate and guess. It may be a secret for now; but not forever. We shall know everything at the right time. When the A90 Supra is officially launched, there will surely be another topic to be discussed....probably the GRMN variant, or MkVI Supra :nixon:

I just wonder what would it be like had Toyota decided to partner with Subaru and not BMW, and produce a H6 for the Supra instead of I6. Handling would most likely be superb and finesse. Boxer power is also more of an airplane thing. So I believe, if this happens, it would have the lowest center of gravity and it will drive like a jet. :drive:

Just take a break from the net, get some rest, then delete comment. Think you've been up too long. :hmm:

Seriously Toyota could have gone with some other manufacturers besides BMW. You all know the electric will break or have a crack head.

My coworker 2015 BMW m3 had an issue with the trunk being opened randomly. We had to check security camera just to confirm nobody is messing with his car. We searched the internet and found it to be a BMW issue.

3.8-9 on the production model would be insane imo. Is the mule faster because it was tested bare bones with less tech?
All of the interior shots of the mule show a covered full interior. I don't think they would have bothered covering the interior if it was bare boned just like the GR Concept.

God no. If they went with Subaru I'd personally think of a way to sabotage the project. That to me is rock bottom.

I noticed that, lately, Toyota is aggressive into doing tie-ups, just like with:
BMW - Toyota Supra / BMW Z4
Mazda - Toyota Yaris
Subaru - Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ

And soon a tie-up again with Mazda to produce a sports car.

For me, it’s a positive sign of good things to come. Toyota is getting the strengths and philosophies of other brands while also applying their own strengths so that they could together build better cars.

Other brands are also following this trend.:grouphug:
