I find it difficult to like cars that blur the line between luxury and performance. I like one or the other .... not some mix that tries to be both. The rawness and simplicity is why I loved the FR-S. Especially the 13. It was raw and decidedly built for fun. The shift light is so cool...
Very nice. Our gift is slowing being unwrapped. Looks like the white strip just below the headlights is also similar to the concept. Hope it's a long, wide LED strip. Will look badass at night.
Hi John, Welcome to the party. Be prepared to see a lot of speculative threads here. No one really knows what the Supra will be. BimmerToy has done a good job of not giving us much. I'm hoping the end result will be as much or better than we all hope to see.
That's kind of what I thought. Seems like knowing what a success the manual was with the twins .... why not parlay that success right into the Supra regardless of the bmw collaboration. This is all speculation. Hopefully we will see a manual option.
For 35-40K ... you can get a Civic Type R, 370z, or the STI with over 300hp. If the Supra stays in the 35-40K market .... then 300hp will work. If the Supra costs over 50K .... it better be 400 plus hp and a damn significant car.
For 55-65K .... you can get a new corvette or the Mustang...
Used GT3.
Used GT4.
Used Mclaren 570LT or 650S
Used 458 Italia.
Dreamin big.
I was also thinking about a Corvette C2 resto-mod with a blown 350.
Shit. I'm all over the map.
A 4 cyl Supra with around 200 hp and weighing more than an 86 will be a poser car for a non-enthusiast. I'm sure Toyota corp just wants to make a Supra available at a lower cost point. Toyota should have put in their Lexus LS500 twin turbo V6 with 400 plus hp in the Supra. Seems logical.
