I would not buy a light weight modern sports car with a torque converter. Large, heavy high horsepower cars like the Camaro is different.

Torque converters are almost bulletproof. They can handle much more torque than a DCT. DCT are more complex and difficult to repair. Sounds to me that BMW is choosing the CHEAP route with a statement re: DCT on borrowed time.
