Wow, great info - thanks, Pete. I have to question any filter that has zero maintenance, since all life-time filters of which I'm aware require periodic cleaning or cleaning/oiling. My MX5 has a true CAI setup (Mazdaspeed) with AEM filter that I periodically swap out for a cleaned and dried one.

Give it time! I used to spray the engine bay with grease remover and rinse with a garden hose when I had my 68 C3 vert. Then again, it's ZZ3 engine was old-school.

I would think that dust attaches itself to an engine that can have areas of an oil film, but whatever works for you. :thumbsup: Most likely, I won't need to spritz my Supra's engine bay for at least 6 months.

I would NOT recommend using a hose. Why not use a spray bottle with hand trigger to spritz a light coating of water on dirty surfaces?
