A true cold start will be a bit louder because the engine speed starts at an elevated level for a period of time. A warm startup does not require the higher revs. That's true even with my 2008 MX5.
Well, I meticulously followed the factory break-in procedure for my last 3 cars:
2001 C5 Corvette
2014 Mazda 3S GT 2.5
2024 GR Supra.
The Mazda and Supra burn zero oil. The LS1 in the C5...let's just say they burn oil no matter what you do. Remember one thing: Lawnmowers and racers aren't...
Those of you who have coilovers: Do they eliminate bumpsteer? I don't think I've ever owned a sportscar WITHOUT it. However, the Miata folks sure do love Ohlin coilovers.
I think there wasn't a good spot when I rolled in, but for sure, I'll try to get there a bit earlier next time. I was shocked at how many attendees were there that early.
" Most VW and Audi models came from the factory with a light amber/tan colored brake fluid. If your original Audi VW brake fluid has turned a dark amber / or a dark brown color it should be changed using approved German DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 Audi VW brake fluid."
Very true about manual pump-bleeding. Popular Mechanics had a writeup about this after a shop used this method which rendered my wife's 10 year-old vehicle with an MC that could not produce a firm brake pedal. The shop had to replace the MC.
"California considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer at the time of purchase or trade by a California resident or business, to be a new vehicle. This is true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state."
This strikes me as very odd, but it comes from...
Welcome to BMW electro-mechanical land! You have definitely been taking advantage of your car with that many miles on it. Hopefully the replacements will last longer.
I haven't done any. I didn't expect the piped in (fake) sound would be that loud at wide open throttle.
That's great that you are adding so many mods already. I have to space out mods after the $3500 PPF that was my top priority. A Lowering spring set is typically my first mod, although I guess...
Very nice. How do you like your lowering springs? My car just hit the 1200-mile mark, so I finally experienced its full acceleration potential. The interior sound level is like not having cats. Here's a shot I took, just a few hours ago.
Definitely! By the way, with many hundreds of attendees and only one place to buy a drink and/or snack, I recommend buying such before you get to the event. I waited for 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. Maybe I'll buy a coffee truck and get in on that action.
