Yes - I would suggest the following steps (maybe with too many steps, but I like to be extra safe):
- With car on, set the JB4 to the stock/bypass map (whichever map is as if it’s not plugged in)
- Then turn car off
- Unplug JB4 OBD plug
- Plug in adapter for Bimmercode
- Do all the coding...
I agree on the letter separation. Cobb and Burger (JB4) sell emblems with separate letters for like $20. I’m curious as to why it’s so hard to find a supplier for something like this (haven’t tried searching myself, FWIW).
I don’t think that a solid piece would be any better. It was a serious question. I’m trying to think what would go in there that would work better.
If these can be made, I’m sure there’s a source that will swap letters for you. https://www.newjerseybimmers.com/products/b58-badge-real-metal-black
Or maybe that site will get some MK5/MKV badges made if there’s enough demand or a group buy or something.
FYI @mdbr0tha
Downpipe only gains were minor but sound and minor bump in power was noticeable. https://www.supramkv.com/threads/cg-precision-ds-1-catted-downpipe-only-log-review-dragy.13284/post-197795
A tune/JB4 with the downpipe is where you’ll really notice things AND make material gains...
I get the valve is open, but are you starting in “sport” mode (pressing sport first, then pushing the start button)?
I get some fun pops when I do that (if you’re into those - no valve mod).
Ouch - presumably, you’re ok.
Question: did you have the forward collision safety stuff on? (Not sure what trim/options you had.)
Also, definitely report back and let us know if the G8X is really worth the extra ~$30k. I keep thinking that’s the next step, so it’s interesting to see Supra...
I appreciate it. That’s helpful. Not really “worried” so much as I am trying to set expectations for myself for the future. It’s fine for the Supra, but if I were to get a new 4-door family car, for example, and mod it, I don’t want exhaust smell as much as possible. Trying to figure out if the...
I’ve obviously had OEM cats in my cars, and I’ve had a catless car, as well. This is my first time with a “high flow” catted downpipe, and it still has some smell to it. More than I thought I’d get from a catted downpipe.
Just wondering if this is normal.
It is a CG Precision DS-1, so it’s a...
I turo’d one for a weekend to make sure nothing was a dealbreaker. Maybe try that if you have one in your area - even if it’s a 2.0 as it will give you an idea of everything but the power of the 3.0 (maybe some tech stuff like CarPlay, but you know what I mean).
2-seater EV with unique styling
AWD for performance figures with ability to go RWD for fun
Deep integration with Apple CarPlay (and whatever android offers for cars)
Much better sound system
Some sort of EV equivalent of engine noise with customizable tone/volume from silent to ridiculous...
Well, the majority of the time I’m using my horn, it’s more like “stay in your lane, don’t f-in hit me”, so I’d prefer something less gentle.
Also, the stock horn is embarrassing if you’re the beeper for a race.
Then is it the (presumably pump) custom stage 2 tune? @Marcellis
Just looking at the list from the original post. It lists both.
“Stage 2 custom tune by Visconti”
“E85 Flex Fuel Stage 2 OTS tune by Visconti“
