Run any of the Maxton lips for a while to see if you scrape. If you don't, then go lower or go with carbon fiber. They're pretty affordable. Unless you have the means to replace the carbon fiber ones which are all generally lower.
Most carbon fiber hoods with the exception of Adro and Varis appear to be manufactured to the same specs.
I've encountered 3 from different vendors ranging between $1400 and $2800 that only come with the pre-drilled holes, no hardware, for bolting the OEM latches and hinges to.
I'm sure the...
Great write up!
I tried all of that a couple of years ago. Took it all apart and added both foam tape and Tesa tape to all edges and corners. Also permanently removed the surrounding trim pieces on both ends of the aluminum bar.
I'd say 90% of the creaks and rattles were eliminated...
Seriously.
It's my DD, so between traffic, road conditions, construction zones and idiot drivers, I don't have any reason to go top mount. My "measly" MHD OTS stage 2 93 downpipe map is more than plenty.
I mean, I did mine mostly for looks. I'm running less than half the power of most guys in my area with no hood vents, so yeah, it's overkill.
Mine's usually garaged, especially at night, but I don't park mine outside long enough for critters to "squatter" in my engine bay, but you can also...
I wonder if the guys over at Magna Steyr accounted for our Big Mac, Dr. Pepper and Dunkin Donuts ingesting lifestyle with a hatch full of Costco purchases when they printed those PSI numbers on the door sill?
Seatbeltplanet and Safetyrestore. They both offer very quick turnaround, usually 2 business days. Check both websites for colors and online coupon codes.
I did it twice too. Lol. First red when when I had my OEM seats, now silver with the red seats.
Wow! That's crazy. Thank you for the clarification. I guess ANY plastic hood vent is a bad idea then in extreme scenarios. I wonder if the CF version is any better?
True. However, I didn't say I was driving my car on the street the same as I would on that track. Yes, that's very different and of course totally irresponsible. I was merely addressing the warping and cracking of the 777 vent in relation to ambient temperatures.
It's attached by 3M tape...
Weird. How long have you had your 777 vent on for before it warped?
I've had mine since last spring and it's been put through spirited driving in the Dallas heat all last summer and still looks perfect. Granted I did have it painted gloss black. Maybe the paint helped?
Yup. I replaced mine with the Rexpeed ones. Love them! The fact that they're both convex helps with driver side blind spot too.
