  1. 2019 Toyota Supra - First Prototype Spotted! Photos & Video Inside

Most of the rear vents on the FT1 though were fake :(
  2. 2019 Toyota Supra - First Prototype Spotted! Photos & Video Inside

I think that's because the prototype is probably on Magna Steyr plates, not Toyota factory plates.
  3. 2019 Toyota Supra - First Prototype Spotted! Photos & Video Inside

Really, really sexy. Love the rear end. Can't really tell what the vibe is... but it looks like a Supra. A little bit Mitsubishi FTO, but more Aston. Only things it's missing is the deployable spoiler and a bigger diffuser.
  4. MKV Toyota Supra Photoshops & Renders based on FT-1 & Prototypes

HOW DO YOU DO THIS WITH PAINT  Nice work. I think there might be a little more going on with the front bumper, a-la jalopnik's render. But obviously we can only guess so well before we see the real deal.
  5. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Most of the pricing of the GT-R has tracked the USD/Yen conversion. http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=JPY&view=10Y From ~2008 to 2012, the dollar really took a tumble to the yen, and the yen remained very strong until 2013, 2014. And now this year the yen has dropped again...
  6. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

If you read the interviews, watch the videos, etc. from FT1, it's very, very apparent that they are blatantly, shamelessly following in the footsteps of 911 with a 2 + barely-usable-2 setup. And FT1 itself was a 2+2 with backseats and seat belts and everything. 911 keeps its 2+2 setup even...
  7. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

Most recent report/guess was that Toyota was aiming for "under 1,400kg" (3,086 lbs). Something in the 2,900-3,000lb range would be fantastic. Squeezing a hybrid system into that figure would be pretty impressive but it seems doubtful. Could always be a mild hybrid setup with one motor and...
  8. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

Tinted black or are they just black? Do we even know if it's a rolling chassis? Seems like it could be a static model. Anyway, cool to see this. I didn't remember ever seeing it before... first FT1 concept that was revealed had a full interior I believe.
  9. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

Very cool. Does that one even have an interior?
  10. 2020 Supra Transmission Chat - Manual, Dual Clutch, or Auto?

Given Toyota/Lexus's penchant for paddle shift autos and the leaked pics, it is still freaking me out that we won't get a proper transmission. +1, BMW's involvement gives me some hope here. Magna Steyr has the contract for both the Toyota and BMW sportscars which are confirmed on a joint...
  11. 2019 Toyota Supra - First Prototype Spotted! Photos & Video Inside

Mazda's concept is beautiful but irrelevant because it'll never see production. Even if they wanted to, they just don't have the money to pursue it. By comparison, Toyota and Honda are overflowing with cash, but it still took them decades to give us a sportscar again. And even if it did make...
  12. Should Toyota Supra keep FT-1 2+2 configuration? Or lose backseats?

Everything Toyota and Calty have indicated points to a 911-style 2+2. Basically unusuable backseat unless you have tiny children. There have been no hints of a 2 seater. Pictures and shape are deceiving. As others have pointed out before, the 86 is a 2+2 and there's hardly enough room in...
  13. Jalopnik: New Toyota Supra Rendering Based on Insider Info

Price-wise it really all depends on if they back it up with enough performance. I get the feeling that when we see the car in person it'll be less "wow" and more "that's really nice." When there are real pictures of a real car, I think it'll look a lot better. Big on the screen on an odd red...
  14. Jalopnik: New Toyota Supra Rendering Based on Insider Info

Seeing it again now about a week after this render came out has it growing on me. Very bland compared to the very dramatic concept. But I think it'll look very sleek, sharp, and surprisingly aggressive in person. A lot of the fake scoops and flares and whatnot from FT1 had to go at some point...
  15. 2019 Toyota Supra - First Prototype Spotted! Photos & Video Inside

Looking at these interior shots is freaking me out a little more... it looks like there's no manual shifter there, some sort of auto selector there, but there ARE ALSO NO VISIBLE PADDLES. Would be such a shame is this car doesn't get a proper dual clutch, paddle shift. But this is just a mule...
  16. Spied: Toyota benchmarking Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997) for new Supra?

Virtually identical to the 911. Let's hope they can keep it at or under the 911's curb weight of ~3,100 lbs as well. It would be fun to get a german-built Toyota take on the 911.
  17. Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

Or The 2000GT has a very distinct front end in general.
  18. Interviews with Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada

Literally a decade will separate the MkV Supra from the current GT-R. If Toyota can't come close to GT-R performance for less money, then shame on them. Corvette does it with the Grand Sport and Z06. Mustang does it with the GT350. The GT-R is old and overpriced (incentives have been close...
