I don't know, it was pretty sexy :puke:
Really amazing how close that is to the real MkIV though.
Like you and OP said, so much will change between now and then. Even seemingly subtle stuff will have a massive impact.
Excited we're actually seeing something in the flesh.
Of course it's still under wraps but it feels like the shape has lost a lot of its sexiness. But I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet.
Detroit auto show would be incredible but I have a feeling it might be more like gymratter said...
"Top of Toyota sports" = presumably faster (more powerful?) than everything in their lineup. If that includes Lexus products, that's pretty substantial. Otherwise, faster than a V6 Camry? ;)
Good question. Cars they supposedly manufacture now are the Mercedes Gwagen, Mini Countryman and the Mini Paceman, at least according to Wikipedia. Recently before that, an Aston Martin and a myriad of Chrysler, Jeep and Mercedes products... not exactly the pinnacle of quality and reliability.
If we got a bona-fide version of that V6 in this car, that would be immense.
Also if the rumored hybrid setup bears any semblance to the one in the TS050, then it would make me feel a little better about it. The fact that the LMP car makes half of its power from batteries is still difficult...
OH MY.
This is the kind of report I could only dream of.
All this eco-hybrid garbage nonsense had me thinking this was going to end up being an overpriced sissycar.
That is only the 997.1 RS, not the 3.8 or 4.0, and is a decade's old car, but hopefully this means there is a quality...
A hybrid. Gross.
Twin-turbocharged. Well I would hope at least one turbo.
An inline-6. Honestly don't care.
Rear-wheel drive with front-wheel electric motors. No thanks.
Better-looking than the LFA. Well yeah. LFA looks cool but not really beautiful.
Quicker than a Camaro SS...
That's the thing, as long as it has the performance to match, it can have a higher pricetag. However if it comes with a Z06 price and only base Vette performance, it's not very appealing. Given the shared BMW platform, the car it really has to beat on price is at least the M4 and whatever the...
Yeah when Acura's car can top $200k and Nissan's car starts at $101k, it's hard to fathom that Toyota will have some bargain priced car. Seems like the ethos of this car has changed back and forth enough that I don't think we can reasonably count on a design goal years ago of "$50s" for the...
The shows are losing a bit of lustre, but they still want the international media exposure. Otherwise they have to stage an event and fly in the media. For a sportscar, car week is a enthusiast-driven event with international media presence. Manufacturers go to a lot of expense and effort to...
Among other things.
The rod bearing issue still appears to be very limited, less than 1% of production, and is heavily weighted among supercharged and other modified cars. However there are people with stock, seemingly well kept cars who have had their engines go kaput, and the thought of...
Too few is more appropriate.
Toyota manufactures about ten million cars every year.
Using a niche subcontractor probably makes more sense for a low-volume joint venture than adding additional lines and shifts at their own plants.
DO NOT COMPARE TO THE NSX (which is still somehow managing to prove itself to be vaporware). That thing has been in the works now for more like 12 years, arguably longer.
Pebble is in August, but the concept lawn would strike me as where Toyota would show the car if it is in fact going to be...
You really don't want a BMW engine in your Toyota ;)
Recently sold my M3. More and more I just felt like I was rolling the dice everytime I started the car. I never personally had any engine trouble, but all the time I'd hear about guys having various trouble, which even when not...
"On both sides we have strong motivation to make it successful, we want to make the car," Leroy said. "We know exactly which kind of body we want to do, we know exactly which kind of powertrain we want to use ... now we just have to decide by when we want to start this car."
So aside from the...
